Lakers News: Luke Walton and Rob Pelinka praise Josh Hart for winning Las Vegas Summer League MVP - Silver Screen and Roll
Rob Pelinka and Luke Walton are impressed with the growth Josh Hart showed in Las Vegas Summer League, but Hart just wants to get back in the Lakers gym.
Josh Hart was the toast of the town throughout his time in Las Vegas, leading the Los Angeles Lakers all the way to the title game and winning the tournament’s MVP award. In doing so, Hart also showed immense growth all over the court that both Luke Walton and Rob Pelinka were immensely impressed by.
”When guys start playing and the game looks easy to them, that’s how you know they’ve really advanced,” Pelinka told Mike Trudell of Lakers.com. “Josh is just making it look easy. He’s playing with an even-keeled pace, getting to the rim when he wants to, making threes. He’s defense-first.

Lakers News: Josh Hart voted Las Vegas Summer League MVP, Svi Mykhailiuk named to second team - Silver Screen and Roll
After Lonzo Ball won Las Vegas Summer League MVP last season, Josh Hart made it two Lakers guards in a row to win the award. Svi Mykhailiuk was also honored with a second team selection.
Before Las Vegas Summer League, Josh Hart said he wanted to “dominate” the offseason tournament. Since he arrived, he’s done exactly that while leading the Los Angeles Lakers to their second straight summer league championship game, and Tuesday it was announced that voters had named him the 2018 Las Vegas Summer League MVP.

Los Angeles Lakers' Josh Hart named Summer League MVP
Los Angeles Lakers guard Josh Hart has been named the Las Vegas Summer League MVP, marking the second straight summer that a Lakers guard has earned the honor.
Fresh off his 37-point, nine-rebound performance in a double-overtime semifinal win over Cleveland, Hart was voted MVP by a media panel. Last summer, Hart's teammate Lonzo Ball was named the MVP after leading the Lakers to the summer league championship.
In his second season with the Lakers, Hart went into the summer wanting to "dominate" summer league with a well-rounded game. He went into Tuesday night's championship game against Portland averaging 24.2 points, 47.1 percent shooting, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals in six games.

Dodgers All-Star profile 2018: Dave Roberts - True Blue LA
Dave Roberts is in his third season as manager of the Dodgers, and is headed for his first major league All-Star Game, at the helm for the National League.
Selection process
Roberts knew of his All-Star status before any other Dodger, since the midsummer classic managers are determined by the previous season’s pennant winners.
Joining Roberts on the National League All-Star coaching staff are pitching coach Rick Honeycutt, hitting coach Turner Ward, first base coach George Lombard, third base coach Chris Woodward, assistant hitting coaches Brant Brown and Luis Ortiz, and bullpen coach Luis Ortiz.

Dodgers All-Star profile 2018: Kenley Jansen - True Blue LA
After pitching four times in the previous five days, it is very likely that Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen will not pitch on Tuesday night. But this is his third straight All-Star nod, putting him in select company in franchise history.
Selection process
After getting voted in by the players in his first two All-Star selections (2016 ad 2017), Jansen this time around was a selection from the commissioner’s office. There are five relief pitchers on the National League roster: Sean Doolittle, Josh Hader and Brad Hand were voted in by the players, while Jansen and Felipe Vazquez were selected by the commissioner’s office.

MLB All-Star Game 2018: Dodgers send two to Washington, Muncy in Final Vote - True Blue LA
No Ross Stripling....yet.
Rosters for the 2018 All-Star Game were announced Sunday afternoon, and the Dodgers are sending two players for the time being.
Representing the Dodgers in Miami will be outfielder Matt Kemp and closer Kenley Jansen, while infielder Max Muncy is one of the five candidates in the National League Final Vote.
Kemp adds another notch to the surprising season he has put together this season after he was practically left for dead money during the winter. The 33-year-old will get the start in the outfield for the National League team, receiving 2,930,353 fan votes to join Nick Markakis of the Braves (3,556,469) and Bryce Harper (2,335,733).
This will be the third All-Star selection for Kemp (2011, 2012) who is hitting .317/.355/.550 this year, with 18 doubles, 15 homers and 57 RBI. This is also the first Dodger to start since Yasiel Puig in 2014.
One more thing to note: Matt Kemp received the most votes among NL outfielders from the players. pic.twitter.com/NM4sLEsjZp

The Winning Photos of Nat Geo's Travel Photographer of the Year 2018
National Geographic has announced the winning photos of its popular Travel Photographer of the Year 2018 photo contest. The grand prize was awarded to Japanese photographer Reiko Takahashi, who captured an underwater photo of a humpback whale calf’s tail.
The winning photo, titled “Mermaid,” was selected from over 13,000 entries received this year. Here’s the description provided by the photographer:
I was fortunate to have encountered a humpback whale with her calf on my first day snorkeling near Japan’s Kumejima Island. Most of the time, the calf stayed close to her mom. At one point, the calf began jumping and tapping its tail on the water near us—it was very friendly and curious. Finally, the mother, who was watching nearby, came to pick up the calf and swim away. I fell in love completely with the calf and it’s very energetic, large, and beautiful tail.
