AI narratives: portrayals and perceptions of artificial intelligence and why they matter | Royal Society
In a series of four workshops (PDF), the Royal Society and Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence explored:

which narratives around intelligent machines are most prevalent, and their historical roots;
what can be learned from how the narrative around other complex, new technologies developed, and the impact of these;
how narratives are shaping the development of AI, and the role of arts and media in this process; and

You Procrastinate Because Of Emotions, Not Laziness. Regulate Them To Stop Procrastinating! | Cognition Today
There are two trains of thought – One leads to procrastination and one leads to motivation. And somewhere in between, there is a junction called anxiety. Let’s first look at the procrastination train of thought (at least that’s going somewhere, amirite?). You Procrastinate Because Of Emotions, Not Laziness. Regulate Them To Stop Procrastinating!

After 15 Years, the Pirate Bay Still Can’t Be Killed - MEL Magazine
In a quiet corner of my high school’s study room in 2009, I booted up my busted laptop while making sure nobody could peer over my shoulder. I knew it was a risk to do this on a school Wi-Fi connection, but it sure felt safer than doing it at home. All it took was one website and a desktop app. After 15 Years, the Pirate Bay Still Can’t Be Killed

Public Communication of Climate Change Science: Engaging Citizens Through Apocalyptic Narrative Explanation: Technical Communication Quarterly: Vol 18, No 1

Abstract

Working from the premise that public input is essential to science policy deliberations, we analyze how two recent works of public communication about climate change (An Inconvenient Truth and Climate Change Show) draw on the rhetorical resource of apocalyptic narrative explanation to promote scientific fluency and inspire citizen engagement in the issues. By weaving together the proofs of ethos, logos, and pathos within a framework of cultural rationality, these narratives illustrate available means of persuasion for stimulating the public's informed participation in science policy discussions.

Opinion | Elena Ferrante: A Power of Our Own - The New York Times
on power, structures, writing - does it make things different and what would?

Suppose a woman pushes her way into the structures of power using an unconventional political intelligence that bends the rules, both written and unwritten. The fact is that she can succeed only if her unconventionality remains consistent with the traditional male culture of command. Why win then? Merely for the pleasure of winning?

Pressing changes are underway. Everything is becoming something else, unpredictably. A completely new outlook is required. The challenge for now and the foreseeable future is to extract ourselves from what men have engineered: a planet long on the edge of catastrophe.

But how? Maybe now is the moment to bet on a female vision of power — one constructed and imposed with the force of our achievements in every field.

The seven female narrators of the “Decameron” should never again need to rely on the great Giovanni Boccaccio to express themselves. Along with their innumerable female readers (even Boccaccio back then knew that men had other things to do and read little), they know how to describe the world in unexpected ways. The female story, told with increasing skill, increasingly widespread and unapologetic, is what must now assume power.
