Razer Blade Stealth Ultrabook and Razer Core External Graphics Dock
Razor is an interesting piece of kit, a thunderbolt 3 external GPU case with dock-like features like additional USB and ethernet ports.

Galaxy Note™ II Smart Dock
Interesting dock, that almost a tablet like a notebook laptop or a home computer when docked at home. Which might make sense if a person is mobile, but regularly returns to fixed locations. In theory should be able to drive a fair sized HDMI screen, and use a keyboard and mouse. Now, whether this is compatible with things other than a Galaxy Note Tablet...

This might make a decent base for a iPad notebook shell case, as it doesn't use bluetooth. Better would be to build in an auxiliary battery to boost the iPad though.

Suitable Technologies
New Beam telepresence robot avatar. Nice overall design, has a charger dock that uses inductive charging so precise alignment or hard docking clamps are not needed. Still, it doesn't seem to have screen/camera height adjustment to work with sitting people at the remote site, and it doesn't seem to have autohoming features for the robot to return for self charge as they seem to expect the pilot to drive back (no SLAM map to guide the user back to the dock?).

Big marine construction company. Did a lot of the breakwaters in Tohoku, which unfortunately failed to live up to expectations. Particularly the failure modes were kinda ugly. Doesn't mean they suck, but a lack of out-of-the-box thinking was/is definitely present.

Omnio WOWKeys and iPhone team up to build a better Eee Keyboard -- Engadget
This would have been marginally more interesting if the dock had VGA out and actually, you know, used the iPhone...
