Practical Application Limits of Fuel Cells and Batteries for Zero Emission Vessels
Uh, they only cover batteries or liquid/gaseous hydrogen PEM fuel cells in the comparison, so kinda incomplete. So no LNG fuel cells, no fuel cell/microturbine hybrids using the microturbine combustor as a topping cycle. Also, the basic conclusion is huge vessels could run a full trip, but on liquid hydrogen only, and short trip ferries should look at batteries instead.

Interesting engine that works on expansion of liquid nitrogen as the working fluid in a piston engine (similar to compressed air engines), but the real savings is for refrigerated goods delivery vehicles, that can use the cold exhaust for cooling cargo. Interesting that they use hydrogen as their primary lifting gas (which is reasonable) as a way to defeat tether mass that has to be lifted, to allow higher altitudes. But, why can't you do something like GreenDiver with a hard inflated shell wing structure, with an inner lift gas cavity?

Using a wave buoy based pump to compress air for a UWCAES setup. Problem is the heat loss (since it would be hard to recover), means you lose a lot of efficiency in the CAES system. I suppose they eat the loss, since the primary power source is renewable wave energy, rather than a grid input.

Air HES
Slightly insane airborne hydroelectric powerplant. The idea is to use a tethered blimp holding a fog/dew/cloud catching screen to grab water from air/clouds, with the tether doubling as a tube. The hydraulic head is non-trival, and can be shunted through through a water turbine to make power and recover the water for purification. If the generated power is enough, I suppose you could generate hydrogen gas on site for the blimps.
