The four new hubs will include 100 to 200 people in which creative professionals will work on campaigns using a "cross-functional" approach, VW stated in the press release. Omnicom's PHD remains Volkswagen's global media agency.

"Campaigns will be developed globally and be data-driven," Jochen Sengpiehl, chief marketing officer of the Volkswagen passenger cars brand, said on a media call on Monday. "For the first time we now have the capability to run global campaigns."

Car subscription startup Fair looks for agencies | CMO Strategy - Ad Age
"We are going to really scale and go big," says Ed Brojerdi, Fair's global head of brand. Brojerdi, the former CEO of MDC Partners-owned ad agency KBS New York, joined Fair in March after a stint consulting for MDC's 72&Sunny on the Infiniti account. (KBS earlier this year merged with Forsman & Bodenfors, retiring the KBS name.)

Santa Monica, California-based Fair went live about a year ago and now operates in 22 cities across 12 states with 20,000 users. It plans to be national by the end of the year, with plans to go global after that. The brand next year plans to spend roughly $50 million on marketing, including TV, out-of-home, radio and digital ads. Up until now, Fair has used agencies on a project basis. The Burnett Collective is handling the review.

Daimler AG, the parent company of the Mercedes-Benz luxury auto brand, has awarded its global media planning and buying business to Omnicom Media Group after a competitive review, Daimler AG confirmed today.

The news concludes a review that began in May and marks a significant hit to both Publicis, which had previously managed a majority of the business in Europe and the APAC region, and WPP, which also handled markets primarily in South Asia and the Middle East. Omnicom was the incumbent in the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

CP&B is closing its Los Angeles office | Agency News - Ad Age
Earlier this year, Infiniti parted ways with 72andSunny, less than a year after the shop (which handles the client out of its Boulder office) was hired to handle creative for several global vehicle launches, Ad Age reported at the time. 72andSunny, which was hired last August, had been handling all global creative responsibilities. That meant less work for MDC sibling agency CP&B, which has been working with Infiniti since 2014.
But CP&B regained its pole position on the brand with the split with 72andSunny, people familiar with the matter said earlier this year. A CP&B spokesman said Thursday the agency continues to work with Infiniti.

Given the number of employees and separate offices required, it would seem almost certain that this will be a holding group fight: Omnicom vs. WPP vs. Publicis vs. Dentsu. We have reason to believe IPG won’t be involved, which makes sense, because this pitch is gonna cost a lot of money.

Also, every single holding company has an auto client on its roster somewhere, so we hope Ford isn’t too picky about agencies working with its competitors. And given the drop in auto sales around the world, there will be cost cuts everywhere. So inevitably, the winner is either going to be a skeletal GTB or some other company’s version of this dedicated model, like We Are UnlimitedFord or The Ford Neighborhood.

In a memo issued Friday, Detroit-based Global Team Blue notified employees of the pending review. "WPP will have an opportunity to compete with other firms to retain these portions of the business, and will remain Ford's agency of record in some other key areas," GTB CEO Satish Korde stated in the memo. The incumbent agency was MDC Partners-owned KBS. The shop over the last year had steadily lost other pieces of the brand's U.S. business. In December 2016, BMW handed web development to Omnicom's Critical Mass after a review that was also run by Roth Ryan Hayes. Critical Mass' relationship with BMW was not affected by the recent creative review. The creative review began in late October.
