Each of our members is dedicated to offering artists, curators, and all manner of creative people the essential time and place away from the pressures and habits of every-day life, an experience framed within a unique geographic and cultural context.

Through Res Artis, organisations become part of a global community of colleagues engaged in dialogue through our face-to-face meetings and virtually through our online presence.

Those interested in attending a residency can use the information and resources on our website, gaining insights into the profiles of our members and staying informed about their events and application deadlines.

Since 1993, through the volunteer efforts of the Board of Directors, dedicated staff and countless partners and friends, Res Artis has grown to become the largest network of its kind, promoting the role of residential art programs as a vital part of the contemporary arts world, stimulating the creative development and mobility of artists, and furthering intercultural understanding."

"With Janne Baetsen presents a unique ‘Human Innovation’ approach to fashion design, cultural economics, psychology, technology and branding, to contribute to a more profound insight into relationships, identities and communities in today’s world of fashion. How? By (re)establishing the connection between the clothes, the creator and the wearer, and questioning what we (need to) value, what we wear as well as how we dispose of it. Focussing not only on clothing but also on the complexity of human behaviour, innovation, experience and communication across all aspects of fashion, to generate deep understanding of the current and future (creative) economy.

The aim is to reveal the significance of fashion as a way of communicating, and identify existing issues in the fashion world that can be explained using a holistic view of disciplines, to predict, express, address and ultimately change behaviour for the better."

Artable is one example, a donation-based crowdfunding platform for products by artists and designers. Their mission is to “help individuals to be independent and creative with the public.”" HAG

Concrete Flux 流泥
Urbanism platform which started off in Beijing's iconic, in Dec 2013 deceased HomeShop art community. It's online journal contains writings of representative local & visiting artists. About: "Concrete Flux is a multi-media, multi-disciplinary online journal which takes as its subject matter China's hyper-fast emerging urban spaces, their meaning and one's everyday experiences of them. We believe that a new configuration of space through urbanisation will lead to a new configuration of society. Our aim, then, is to contribute to some understanding of or gain insight into what these spaces, which seem to emerge faster than our minds can log and assess, may mean." HAG

To Get Noticed, Chinese Artists Look to Internet

"Chung Chinghsin, director of the Da Xiang Art Space, a Taiwan-based gallery participating in the Art Asia Pavilion this year, said that in recent years the creation of media platforms had become “the main trend” among China’s artists.

A presence on the Internet and on social media sites is increasingly important for artists worldwide: They can sell their work online, communicate directly with their audience and publicize exhibitions. And while certain galleries set up Internet presences for their artists, many artists, especially those starting out, must do such promotional work alone.

“The Internet and social media are now essential for artists to promote their practice in the wider public,” Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, the director of the Sydney Museum Contemporary Art."

VISION - 青年视觉
Probably China's leading homegrown contemporary fashion/art/lifestyle magazine. It's published and financed by China's Young Communist Leage. I've a friend there, so if we need something from VISION, I might ask her.

Despite of having too many commercials inside, the artistic level seems quite high, browsing it is very cool. But it's all in Chinese and all printed, no online.

ma ke : wu yong chinese fashion
"the title 'wu yong' translates to 'useless'.
ma ke is known in china for her silent, organic and reflexive clothing that is more
creative and experimental in shape. confronted by the local clothing industry with
its cheap, homogenising mass-production and poorly paid workers whose skill is not valued,
and by a fashion scene lacking local aesthetic influence and dominated by foreign labels,
she dedicated herself to developing her ‘useless’ ideas."
