Consider this before you shoot RAW on a Canon 5D mark III
But I would not recommend the 5D mark III Magic Lantern RAW hack to professional and commercial productions. If you’re not specifically in need for a very small, full-frame, RAW camera then I’d recommend to choose a different tool.

Canon 100mm f/2
Image Stabilization     performance      top

The Canon 100mm f/2 USM has no image stabilization. I get tripod-equivalent sharpness 50% of the time at 1/60 of a second, not great, but that's what we expect with a short and light telephoto lens.

Cameras and Skin Tones | DSLRBodies | Thom Hogan
Again, personally I like neutral color. It’s always far easier to add contrast, saturation, and hue shifts than it is to take them out or adjust them after the fact. Nikon’s Neutral Picture Control is about as neutral as they come. Standard adds some contrast, a very slight hue shift, and very slight saturation. But note that if you truly want neutral on a Nikon DSLR now you need to make sure that you’ve either set the right white balance or cancelled the “warmth” in automatic white balance.

One month with the Fujifilm X-H1 | Blickwechsel Fotografie Blog
The black out time of the EVF has been optimised with the X-H1. When I saw this for the first time, I was really impressed. The X-H1 is using a mechanical shutter and has almost no blackout; unlike competitor’s cameras that use an electronic shutter for blackout free shooting. If you don’t see it for yourself, it is really hard to believe.

Thoughts about the Fujifilm X-H1 | Blickwechsel Fotografie Blog
uring the shootings I accidentally hit the Q-Button several times and suddenly I had the Q-Menu in the viewfinder. With the size of the camera, an identical or at least similar arrangement as with the X-T2 (above the focus joystick) would have been probably possible without any problems.

Cheap Vintage M42 Manual Lenses for Fuji X Mirrorless Cameras – Roy Cruz Photo
The widest I’ve seen for old and relatively cheap lenses is around 24mm, which isn’t very wide on crop. The older Sigma and Nikon ultra wides I’ve seen on eBay are already in the hundreds of dollars, so might as well go for the Samyang IMO. The Samyang remains my favorite landscape lens, and I think it’s such a great value. Plus it goes on sale on Amazon from time to time, which is something to look out for.

Canon crushed many dreams today with the EOS-R. My Suggestion? Wait a few months… – Steve Huff Photo
The point is not that Nikon is better than Canon or Sony is better than Nikon. Rather, companies who try trap their customer base end up losing them to someone else. Canon/Nikon now have a problem because Sony is outselling everyone else in the FF bodies. Sure, the larger mirrorless mounts for Canikon may prove to be an advantage some years down the line. However, they have to spend the resources to play catch up to the market leader at the time.

Hands up - On reflection I was wrong about Blackmagic - Plus the camera press needs to grow a pair of balls PART 2 - EOSHD
The elaborate Hawaiian EOSD R launch, with a free camera to take home, has the desired impact (no matter how many times reviewers deny it), otherwise companies wouldn’t spend the doe. It’s what turns Caleb Pike, to name just one example, into a “Not perfect, but WOW what a great camera” kind of guy, rather than the objective person he should be, the kind of guy who says “1.8x crop is shit and inexcusable”, like me.

Canon RF 50mm F1.2L USM sample gallery: Digital Photography Review
@Jack Lian: You need IBIS to prevent micro shakes, otherwise you have to do 1/(focal lengh*5) to be save.. hence 1/250 sec for 50mm. And no, not every picture is blurry, but some will be at 100%. Maybe this is a personal thing, not everybody is the same. But the old formula "1/focal lengh" for longest shutter for a shake free image does not apply anymore with 20+ MP.

Canon's mirrorless: an alternative to Sony? - phillipreeve.net
The Nikon Z is a well thought out system with supposedly world class f1.8 lenses, practical and humble from the start and a promising lens road map. Not the Canon entry: what a blingbling lens line, 1.5kg f2.0 standard zoom, wow, not really nice on a hike or a stroll through the city. The 50/1.2 feeds the pride of ownership and the subtle differences in bokeh between the Nikon S f1.8 and Canon R f1.2 will start the experts. Sorry, I am not buying a mirrorless cam to carry more than with a DSLR.

Using Manual Lenses With the Fuji X System – Roy Cruz Photo
I use these manual focus lenses with a Fujifilm X-E1 and an X-T1.  If you want the most bang for your buck, I’d recommend getting an X-E1 used or refurbished.  The X-E1 is currently the cheapest Fuji X body with an electronic viewfinder, and you can get one on the used/refurb market nowadays for $200-$300.  It provides focus peaking, as well as the standard zoom-in type of manual focus assist.  The X-Pro 1 is also quite cheap now, and will provide a similar experience, though I’m not sure how the optical viewfinder will function with them (leave a comment below if you have any info on this).

Nikon Noct-NIKKOR 58mm f/1.2 Review - Photography Life
If you are worried about ghosting and flare, you should avoid the Noct and most other Nikkor classics. There are several reasons for this – Nikon in the past did not have advanced coating technologies like Nano-coating to apply to lenses and as a result, ghosting and flare can certainly present some serious challenges. In addition, if the copy you have has a lot of dust between lens elements, light will bounce all over the place and give you some crazy results. If you like photographing back-lit subjects, I would watch out for very bright sources of light reaching the front element directly – you might need to reframe your subject to reduce ghosting and flare.

XT-2 Focus Bracketing - Too Many Unfocused Frames | Fuji X Forum
Be aware that focus stacking (the post processing term) for macro work is a different kettle of fish as for landscape work. Macro may call for more images (I will use that word instead of the confusion of frame/steps) than landscape work. A landscape photographer using a macro photographers approach, will be very unhappy with the ridiculous number of images that could result (image storage waste, longer and longer processing time, movement of objects in image).

American decline: Open pools of raw sewage in the richest country in the world — RT Op-ed
Meanwhile, New York’s Subway system is decaying due to disinvestment and corruption. Last summer a train stalled, leaving passengers in the dark with no air conditioning for an hour. “As the heat of packed-together bodies fogged the windows, passengers beat on the walls and clawed at the doors in a scene from a real-life horror story,”reported the New York Times. In Washington DC, the nation’s capital, the Metro is always late and totally unreliable, with train fires becoming a regular occurrence while Amtrak trains experience routine derailments. These are just some examples of infrastructure decay. The list goes on: bridges are crumbling, schools are shuttered. In Baltimore dozens of schools had no heat during record freezing temperatures this winter. The only thing America’s leadership seems capable of investing in is prisons and war.

How fast is the Sony a9 electronic shutter?
It’s hard to see the vertical lines which are the time base divisions, but here’s what I see. The mechanical shutter takes about 3 and a half divisions, or 3.5 milliseconds, to get from the top to the bottom. That’s a little slower than 1/300 second. The electronic shutter does the job in a little over six divisions, or 6-plus milliseconds. That’s about 1/150 second.

On the Censorship of Michael Hoffman's Books by Amazon
To be banned by Amazon is not equivalent to being banned by any other private business. Most publishers will admit that Amazon has replaced Bowker Books in Print as the industry’s authoritative guide to what books in English have been printed in the past and what is in print now. Amazon is currently the reference source. For a book to be forbidden by Amazon renders it largely invisible. It is equivalent to burning the book.

(1) Pioneer Elite SC-85 AVR - Factory Reset How-To - YouTube
Pioneer have the worst network receivers and control app. However, to fix network problems there is no need for a full factory reset. You can do a network adapter reset only.

While in standby mode, press and hold the power on key on the unit and continue pressing until it turns on then turns off. Continue holding the power button until the message 'power on" appears then it will be turned off. Release and turn it on as usual. Now the internal network adapter is reset but no other data is lost

This will fix the network problems until next time

A permanent solution is to buy a receiver from another brand such as Yamaha which have much better network capabilities

Shutter sound is the same as the XT2. The dampened shutter in the XH1 is related to the IBIS function

Is the weather sealing and body construction improved like it was on the XH1? I’ve had to send my XT1 and XT2 in a few times while my XH1 has handled the same wilderness abuse/conditions incredibly well.

Another piece of good news is that you can record 30 minutes of 4K video without the power grip and allows for seamless video recording by automatically writing the video file onto the second memory card once the first one is full. Additionally, the power grip now supports a seamless transition if the battery dies. I noticed that the rolling shutter has improved slightly compared to the X-H1, but keep in mind that it is still present.

The recommended settings will depend a little on the camera. With the X-H1 I use EF+M+E which basically means electronic front curtain shutter up to 1/2000, mechanical up to 1/8000 and electronic shutter for higher than 1/8000. If you have an X-H1, use the above, otherwise the general rule is use the mechanical shutter until the man, and only switch to electronic shutter then, to avoid issues like rolling shutter.

OIS - why never on prime lenses? | Fuji X Forum
Stabilization is just for when everything else fails and there's no other option. For wide-angles my experience is that stabilization tends to have an effect particularly on corner performance. Especially on fast wide-angle zooms (2.8s) that to begin with always struggle with field curvature some extent and not uncommonly decentering at the wide end too, the stabilization "does something funny". Perhaps simply because there are more parts in the lens and several of them are moving, this ads up to more things that need to be perfectly aligned, stabilization enabled or not. Combine that with other manufactoring tolerances, the inherent pecularities of for instance PDAF, the mirror box and so forth...receipe for disaster!

I have found that when placed tight against each other they will shrink leaving an adequate gap. If you leave to large a gap while they are still wet, the gap may get quite large .

Sony SEL1635GM 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens Review — Tom Moors Photography
In conclusion I'll be keeping the Sony 16-35 GM lens and selling the Canon.  While I think the Canon 16-35L iii is slightly sharper in some instances the sharpness from the Sony is still excellent.  I would also prefer the mechanical manual focus of the Canon but I thought the focus ring felt slightly stiffer than the Batis 18mm lens which I really didn't like the feel of.  However I like the look of the colors and contrast from the Sony better, the smaller size, and less vignetting which more than make up for the other minor differences.

Test extrême du Fuji X-T3 - olivier borgognon
Je n’aime pas la position du bouton Quick qui est parfaitement placée sur le X-H1 et qui n’est pas pratique sur le X-T3.

For Nikon, there are the standard Metabones adapters, which the only thing to be careful of there is to avoid using Speed Boosters on full-frame Sony bodies. Speed Boosters are only meant to cover APS-C sensors.
