Failure Modes in Machine Learning
"In the last two years, more than 200 papers have been written on how Machine Learning (ML) can fail because of adversarial attacks on the algorithms and data; this number balloons if we were to incorporate non-adversarial failure modes. The spate of papers has made it difficult for ML practitioners, let alone engineers, lawyers and policymakers, to keep up with the attacks against and defenses of ML systems. However, as these systems become more pervasive, the need to understand how they fail, whether by the hand of an adversary or due to the inherent design of a system, will only become more pressing."

Risk-First Software Development
"Scrum, Waterfall, Lean, Prince2: what do they all have in common?

One perspective is that they are individual software methodologies, offering different approaches on how to build software.

However, here, we are going to consider a second perspective: that building software is all about managing risk, and that these methodologies are acknowledgements of this fact, and they differ because they have different ideas about which are the most important risks to manage."

12-Factor Apps in Plain English
"Popular platform-as-a-service provider Heroku […] maintains a manifesto of sorts called The Twelve-Factor App. It outlines a methodology for developers to follow when building modern web-based applications. Your app is an onion: Why software projects spiral out of control
"You start with the best of intentions. You hire a developer to build out your startup idea. But almost every week, it feels like the project needs tweaking. Features start creeping in, and the scope slowly expands.

What nobody tells you about documentation - Blog - Divio
"There is a secret that needs to be understood in order to write good software documentation: there isn’t one thing called documentation, there are four.

They are: tutorials, how-to guides, discussions and technical reference. They represent four different purposes or functions, and require four different approaches to their creation. Understanding the implications of this will help improve most software documentation - often immensely."
