Planck EZ slow key response : olkb
(According to one of the comments, there’s a chance that newer versions of QMK may be able to help with this?)

“I got planck ez recently and I noticed that it feels off when typing, and if I try to press keys very quickly they just don't register at all. For instance if I do something like fjdk on my ergodox, or any other keyboard for that matter, they will all register every time. With my planck I will sometimes see only 1 or 2 keys. I turned the debounce all the way down in the firmware and it didn't seem to help at all.”

“Fat Fingers Keyboard knows when you mistype and doesn't let the bad character in. It also shows you the bad touch point so you can improve your grip. After a few minutes you will start to type faster than ever.

“With the additional symbol row at the bottom and an optional accent ribbon on the top the need for page switching becomes minimal so typing speed becomes even more faster.

Rollover 'delayed' when pressing both unshifted and shifted keycodes at the same time · Issue #1708 · qmk/qmk_firmware · GitHub
“I have both = and + bound to seperate keys in my keymap. When I first press one of them, then press the other while the first key is still being held, the second keypress does not register.
If I press the second key a second time (or keep holding it) while the first key is still being pressed, then those presses are registered.

“I found this behaviour while typing +=. Apparently I often still have my finger on + while already typing the =. I would expect to immediately get the = like it is the case with other keys.

“This also happens with other keycodes that are basically shifted/unshifted versions of the same key, such as { and [.”

“its pretty straightforward, if you dry fit the encoder you;ll see where it fits in and where you need to solder (3 small pins for the data, and 2 feet on the side to hold it down). depending on the encoder, you will need to do this first, before the switches because the plate will need to go over the encoder.”

Quick Review - Aliaz vs. Zilents : MechanicalKeyboards
“Which one will I choose? This is a tough call. The price of the zilents is a bit prohibitave as they are almost 2x the price. So if you are looking for an affordable silent switch, i’d go with the aliaz switches and take a sacrifice on the tactility. The switches are smooth and pretty good value for the $. Better than silent gateron browns that’s for sure.

“If i was going for pure feel, Zilents for sure. But the spring noise might bother some people, perhaps it would help with some lubing of the switch, but I didn’t test that.

“Personally, i’m leaning towards the Zilents because the tactility (for me) is very important, but perhaps wait for another round to see if they can resolve this spring noise issue.”

Mod-Tap keys register as tap when used too fast · Issue #2278 · qmk/qmk_firmware · GitHub
(On some QMK parameters related to mod_tap:)
“I have been adding unit tests for the tapping system and `PERMISSIVE_HOLD` should do what you want, as long as you don't have `IGNORE_MOD_TAP_INTERRUPT` defined. You can add a `#undef IGNORE_MOD_TAP_INTERRUPT` to you `config.h` file to make sure. Some keyboards define that by default.

“From my tests, the options mean the following

* `PERMISSIVE_HOLD` = Always the modified output
* `IGNORE_MOD_TAP_INTERRUPT` = Always both keys, unless you hold both keys for at least `TAPPING_TERM`
* `PERMISSIVE_HOLD + IGNORE_MOD_TAP_INTERRUPT` = Modified output if the other key is released before the tap key, or if both keys are held longer than `TAPPING_TERM`. So both keys are output when releasing the tap key before the other key and held less than `TAPPING_TERM`”

Diverge 4 now available: Split Ergo + Anodised Milled Aluminium + RGB LED + USB Type C : MechanicalKeyboards
(It looks like this came out on December 14, 2018:)
“Man, this has been a long time coming, for those of you who don’t know me, I was one of the first few people to mass produce split ergos back when they weren’t as easily accessible as today. I’m happy to announce that Project Legio, a series of projects that has been in development for over a year is finally bearing fruit!

“The Diverge 4 is a split ergo similar to the ErgoDox with an anodised milled aluminium unibody case, RGB LEDs, USB Type C, and an ARM Cortex processor with a maximum allowed layer count of 59 (yes you read that right!), have to say I did not compromise one bit making this thing, everything everyone wants is basically in here except for wireless features.

“Summary Features:
“• 72 keys and up to 59 layers
“• Individually addressable RGB LEDs with up to 16.8 million colour combinations
“• Fully rebindable/customisable with GUI software Arbites (screenshot)
“• Two sides talk via I2C. Layers, modifiers, LED controls, etc could all be shared across both sides, each side could also act as an independent keyboard
“• Very beautiful milled aluminium shell (I shit you not it is gorgeous)
“• Toggleable NKRO/6KRO, works in BIOS too
“• Dual roles modifiers
“• Tap dance keys
“• Macros
“• by default 5160 bytes of persistent storage for layouts, macros, special functions, etc, customizable up to 16KB.”

“I’m currently away from office and don’t have the tent kit with my personal Diverge 4, but it uses the same tent kit as the Diverge 3.

“Acrylic disks and silicone feets are included, they could be attached to two of the spots on the bottom plate of the Diverge 4 to tent the keyboard up to 20 degrees.

PREVENT_STUCK_MODIFIERS should be the default · Issue #2518 · qmk/qmk_firmware
“Many problems new users face with the layer system is realizing the keydown and keyup can occur on different layers. This confusion leads to frustration, long debug sessions, and ultimately questions on the boards. Some features (notably stenography) have issues if the wrong keyup happens. It only the rare and advanced scenario when someone wants the keyup to be different that the keydown therefore we should make the default to send the reciprocal keyup event to every keydown event.

“I propose to invert the logic, create an ALLOW_STUCK_MODIFIERS define and back-port it to all existing keymaps that don’t have PREVENT_STUCK_MODIFIERS. I’m welcome to changing the name of ALLOW_STUCK_MODIFIERS to something less passive-aggressive. ;)”

Issues with Layer Tap (LT) on Let's Split QMK : olkb
When using LT() within QMK, keep in mind that you have to refer to the layer by its name as according to how it’s listed in the array index in keymap.c.

[QMK] Has anyone tried Mod Tap with a layer key? : olkb
“My Let’s Split and Preonic (grid) have Enter and Space under my left and right thumbs respectively. So I’m thinking of adding mod tap on each and when held they’d be Lower and Raise. Has anyone played around with this yet? How is it?”

“It is possible just not with the mod tap functions. See the section on layer switching for LT(layer, kc). Thanks /u/Danilo_dk”
