Copy Chrome extensions from one computer to another - Super User
(If you should need to recover your Chrome extensions from a backup, this looks to be the way to go:)
“1. Locate the extension folder from an existing installation. You should find it in

“Chrome user data directory → Extensions → {a 32 ‘a→p’ character hash}

“It should be fairly obvious which hash corresponds to which extension upon inspection, but you can often find a readme.txt, or a messages.json file in a _locales sudfolder, from which you can identify the extension. On my local system the hash for Adblock was cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb (this is probably globally unique, but just check), and then there were versioned subfolders. Choosing the most recent version directory should be fine.

“2. Copy this folder to the new computer.

“3. Go to chrome://extensions in the target Chrome browser and enable ‘Developer mode’ by the checkbox in the upper right.

“4. Press ‘Load unpacked extension…’ and choose the version-number folder inside the desired extension folder.”

Michael Tsai - Blog - iMazing Leaves Setapp
(Oh, this sounds very promising!)
“Yeah, iMazing lives up to its name, has that menuItem subApp that runs in the menubar all the time, giving me battery stats, backing up all my iDevices at 1am.

“It also does ‘device bridge upgrades’ – plug old device in. Plug new from Apple Store device in. iM sees both devices and transfers all data from old device to new device. I’ve done this 5 times already, it’s GREAT.

“HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.”

Stamp Music Importer — Tools and Toys
“Ever wanted to try out another music streaming service but don’t feel like dealing with the hassle of recreating all your playlists and track libraries there? Stamp Music Importer is an app that takes care of all that for you. It lets you move tracks and playlists across various music services — Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play Music, Amazon Music, YouTube, Deezer, and more.

“This really would have come in handy for me a while back when I wanted to recreate Starbucks’ surprisingly good “Summertime Hip-Hop” Spotify playlist in Apple Music. I managed to get the job done manually (minus one song), but it sucked.”

music - iTunes: Move files off a network drive - Ask Different
This answer may well have the canonical steps for migrating one's iTunes library.

In short:
• In iTunes → Preferences → Advanced
- Make sure “Keep iTunes Media folder organized” is unchecked.
- Make sure "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" is unchecked.
- Make sure “Share iTunes Library XML” is checked.
• Quit iTunes.
• Go to ~/Music/iTunes/
• Delete "iTunes Library.itl”
• Locate "iTunes Library.xml" and/or "iTunes Music Library.xml". Then delete whichever file is older.
• Edit the remaining XML file with a text editor (like TextMate).
• Make a copy of that XML file and rename that copy to whichever XML file you just deleted.
• Use this Terminal command to create a dummy (0-byte) version of "iTunes Library.itl":
touch ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Library.itl
• Lastly, start iTunes normally. It may chug for a while, but that’s okay.

(Note to self: You also created a Word version of these directions:

How to move your iTunes Library to another location - Macworld UK
"Within the Music folder, you'll find the iTunes folder, which you'll want to drag and drop into your Hard Drive. This will now move your iTunes files to your external hard drive. Depending on the size of your music collection, it might take longer.

"After you've finished, you'll want to relaunch iTunes, by holding down the Option (Alt) key and clicking on the iTunes application. This will then prompt you to choose a new library."

Ask the iTunes Guy: What to do when iTunes goes wild | Macworld
(About iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml:)
"macOS includes Time Machine, an automatic backup system that automatically stores copies of your files to an external or network drive. To protect your iTunes library and your other files, it’s a good idea to use Time Machine. This is better than just copying your files or cloning your drive, since it stores multiple versions of your files. If the iTunes Library file in your backup is corrupt, then you’re out of luck, but with Time Machine, you can go back in time and choose different versions until you find one that works.

"I also strongly recommend checking the option mentioned above to have iTunes create that XML file. It doesn’t cost you anything, and it can save your iTunes library if something goes wrong."

Apple's AirPort Extreme: Out with the old, in with the new - TechRepublic
"Thanks to Apple engineering, I didn't have to. Upon powering the new AirPort Extreme and opening Apple's AirPort Utility, the very first option I was presented was the opportunity to replace my existing device with the new router. The old router's settings were automatically and correctly transferred to the new device. All I had to do was click Next and move my cable modem's Ethernet cable to the new router's WAN port. The migration experience was truly that easy."

website design - Which modern software is a decent successor / replacement for Fireworks? - Graphic Design Stack Exchange
It looks like Sketch might be a decent replacement for Fireworks: "I too have been a lifetime fan of Fireworks (their entire lifetime). Have you heard of Sketch? I can tell you that it's the only thing that comes close. (It's a perfect mashup of Illustrator and Fireworks, but SO MUCH closer to FW). Your transition should be seamless, and you will quickly be in love. Personally, I'll still use FW until it's technically impossible."

Transferring your iTunes Library | iLounge Article
@zeldman passed this along -- perhaps this may be of use for migrating one's iTunes library? (via: https://twitter.com/zeldman/statuses/16543138034)

This bit also seemed pertinent:
"The most important point to keep in mind is that once a media file is listed in the iTunes library, it is referenced from iTunes by the specific location (i.e. full pathname) of where this file is located. Therefore, if you move a file, iTunes will almost certainly lose track of that file, and the result will be a broken link in your iTunes library.”

And also:
"Mac OS X users can get away with moving their media files around on the same drive and iTunes will still be able to find them. This is not iTunes-specific but is actually due to the fact that the Mac OS X operating system itself keeps track of files when they’re moved to new locations on the same drive, regardless of file type. This will not work, however, when moving files to a different drive, partition, or computer."
