Latest macOS 10.14 Mojave freezing 1-2 seconds every few minutes (except mouse and sound) and then continues? - Ask Different
(There isn’t much in the way of replies here, but at least it’s not just you.)

“Since a week or two I am experiencing a very strange problem on my Macbook Pro running macOS 10.14 Mojave. I have all the latest updates installed (currently no new updates available).

“No matter what I’m doing, typing something in a browser or text editor or other application, watching a video on youtube or in VLC, every few minutes the whole system become non-responsive for like 1 or 2 seconds.

“No response to keyboard activity, video playback stops, mouse clicks don’t work. However if any sound is playing, that keeps on playing normally. And the mouse pointer still moves. When I was typing something, the letters don’t appear, but after 1-2 sec when the system continues, the letters still appear as if they were cached somehow.

“So when I’m watching a video (either streaming or just a local video file with VLC) the screen will suddenly stop i.e. the video picture appears ‘frozen’, but the sound continues. Then 1-2 sec later the video continues normally.”

MacOS Mojave broke simulate keystroke (ctrl + arrow) - Questions & Suggestions - Keyboard Maestro Discourse
(Apparently simulated keys don’t work in Mojave if it’s a keyboard shortcut of an existing app and the shortcut include arrows or function keys.)

“Yes, simulated keys that are hot keys of the system or other applications, that use arrows or function keys apparently don’t trigger the hot keys in Mojave.

“I have reported this to Apple (and done all the hard work of providing them with a test application). No idea if they will resolve it, for all I know they think this is a security feature.”

No sound after upgrading to macOS Mojave — here’s your fix
(A potential fix for audio issues on macOS Mojave:)

“So easiest test was: trying to connect to my bluetooth headphones. This did work so I assumed it must be some stupid software issue — and here we go!

“If you are experiencing the same behaviour I have an easy fix for you!

“Open your terminal (press CMD + Space to open spotlight search, and type terminal and hit return) and then copy & paste this command:

“sudo kill ps -ax | grep 'coreaudiod' | grep 'sbin' |awk '{print $1}'”

Shirt Pocket Watch - Technical Update!
(It looks like you need to enable Full Disk Access for SuperDuper to get it to work under Mojave—)
“If you're running SuperDuper! under Mojave, you need to add it to Full Disk Access. SuperDuper! will prompt you and refuse to run until this permission has been granted.

@Due to the nature of Full Disk Access, it has to be enabled before SuperDuper is launched--that's why we don't wait for you to add it and automatically proceed.”

How to see which applications on your Mac are 32-bit and won't be supported in the future
This post goes over how you can get a list of which 32-bit apps you have installed on your system (since Mojave is the last version of macOS to support 32-bit apps).

Daring Fireball: CoreAnimation Bug in MacOS 10.14.4
(Perhaps it may be worth waiting till 10.14.5, then?)
“It’s incredibly rare for us to have to do this, but I need to let our Mac customers know that the 10.14.4 version of Mojave which shipped a few weeks ago (on March 25, 2019) has a drawing bug which makes windows with large CoreAnimation layers fail to draw. In particular, OmniOutliner and OmniPlan customers have been telling us that since upgrading to 10.14.4, they will open some documents and end up seeing… nothing. Perhaps some empty borders around the window. (Or if another window is dragged over the space where that window should be drawing, they’ll see a trail of its old pixels.) This is most likely to affect customers who are using older hardware, but it also affects large documents on newer hardware.

“We’re working with Apple to get this resolved as soon as possible, but for now it appears there’s nothing we can do to resolve this on our own.”

Are "Insert Text by Typing/Pasting" working in Mojave? - Questions & Suggestions - Keyboard Maestro Discourse
“Note that OS X Mojave (Betas at least) has a serious problem adding accessibly for Keyboard Maestro Engine. Specifically after it is added, you can click the checkbox but it wont necessarily turn on. Resolve this by deleting the Keyboard Maestro Engine entry from the Accessibility list and relaunching Keyboard Maestro Engine (Keyboard Maestro File ➤ Quit Engine, File ➤ Launch Engine), and then you can check the checkbox to enable accessibility permissions.”

“When you set the Mojave Accent Color to ‘Graphite’ (the gray dot) all the dark mode ‘blacks’ stop mixing the desktop color into everything and making muddy weird colors. In Graphite-Dark-Mode blacks are just black. When combined with Reduce Transparency things are almost tolerable.”

Transparency - All this
Pro tip: Aqua Dark Blue is apparently RGB(61, 101, 156). (via the asterisk next to “Aqua Dark Blue”).

Also—
“I can get rid of the ersatz transparency by checking the ‘Increase contrast’ box in the Accessibility System Preference, but that also adds thicker border lines around windows and buttons, which I’d rather not have.”

AirBuddy
(This requires macOS Mojave, though.)
“AirBuddy brings the same AirPods experience you have on iOS to the Mac. With AirBuddy, you can open up your AirPods case next to your Mac and see the status right away, just like it is on your iPhone or iPad. A simple click and you’re connected and playing your Mac’s audio to AirPods. Oh, it also makes sure the audio input of your Mac is NOT switched to the AirPods so you can get the best possible quality.”

Don’t believe System Information’s Legacy Software – The Eclectic Light Company
“Whatever Apple’s list of Legacy Software means, it doesn’t tell you which of your apps are 32-bit only and won’t be fully compatible with macOS 10.15. Neither do the alerts which Mojave displays when you open a 32-bit app for the first time, as they appear only for apps which are being put through full Gatekeeper checks because they have just been downloaded from the internet. Those 32-bit apps which you already have installed don’t get put through those checks, so never result in that warning.”

Upgrading to Mojave? Read This First. – Help Desk
“In the new macOS 10.14 Mojave update, Apple has made some privacy and security changes with their OS and as a result has changed the way Backblaze behaves after you upgrade to Mojave. We are working on a solution for this, however you will need to follow the below steps to enable Backblaze and back up your: Photos, Contacts, Calendars, Safari, Mail, or other Apple items.”

Ready for Mojave - Announcements - Keyboard Maestro Discourse
“You will have to ensure you enable Accessibility for both Keyboard Maestro and Keyboard Maestro Engine. If you have any troubles with accessibility (eg typing keystrokes), try either restarting or toggling the accessibility permissions for Keyboard Maestro and Keyboard Maestro Engine off and then on again.

“Also, new in Mojave you will have to enable ‘Automation’ (which really means Apple Events/AppleScript control) for every application you wish to control via scripting (this includes things like the SafariURL 3 token or most other Safari, Chrome, or iTunes actions). This is a pain, but you should only have to do it once per target application and unlike Accessibility, you only enable it for Keyboard Maestro and Keyboard Maestro Engine inherits it. If you have automations that run in the middle of the night you may want to try to ‘pre-approve’ them, although there is no direct support for this.

“Keyboard Maestro will ask for permission to access your Contacts to fill in a default email address for contact or crash reports, but you do not have to allow that. It will be required if you use any of the AddressBook tokens.

“Keyboard Maestro doesn’t ask for permissions for Location Services, Calendar, Reminders, Photos, Camera, Microphone or Full Disk Access, not unless you run some sort of script or action that accesses them (there are no native actions to access them currently, though there may be in the future).”

Michael Tsai - Blog - Apple Event Sandboxing in macOS Mojave Lacks Essential APIs
“I ran into another usability challenge that Felix didn’t itemize: the problem of denying authorization to an application and then living to regret it. I guess at some point I must have hastily denied permission for Xcode (Apple’s software development app) to control the Finder. This resulted in a seemingly permanent impairment to Xcode’s ‘Show in Finder’ feature. I’m often using this feature to quickly navigate from Xcode’s interface to the Finder’s view on the same files. After denying access once, the feature has the unfortunate behavior of succeeding in activating the Finder (I guess that one is whitelisted), but failing silently when it comes to revealing the file.

“OK, that’s fine. I messed up. But how do I undo it? Unfortunately, the list of applications in the Security and Privacy preference pane is only of those that I have clicked ‘OK’ for. There’s no list of the ones that I’ve denied, and no apparent option to drag in or add applications explicitly. For this high level problem, I filed Radar #42081464: ‘TCC needs user-facing mechanism for allowing previously denied privileges.’”
