Set User Info to Brand Your Comments in Word – SciEditor
“Use your business name or moniker if your name is long, like mine, or to remind the team of your business name every time they see one of your comments. Repetition is key to branding and to marketing.

“There are three reasons that setting the user name goes wrong:

“• It only works from this point forward. So it won’t change the ‘Author’ tag on any existing changes. This is handy if you want to preserve others’ changes, but annoying if you only remember to change the name in the middle of your work.
“• The computer’s log in name will be used unless you check the little tick box below the field you entered your name in. You can see the ‘Always use this name/these values regardless of [how I’m] sign[ed] in to Office’ box in the screen grabs above in this post. The wording is slightly different on each operating system just to irk editors.
“• The file is set to ‘remove personal info from this file on save.’ That’s handy for dropping time stamps, but will completely scupper attempts to keep several reviewers’ input separate or to brand your work with your name. More on that in another post.”

On whether one can enable “blinkies” during photo playback:

"On the X100T, blinkies appear during playback if you select the Info display. Your manual describes how to rotate through the X-T2 playback displays here:

X-T2 new firmware: what does the new "eye sensor + LCD" mode do?: Fujifilm X System / SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review
In the 2.0 XT-2 firmware:
"Further to the eye sensor + LCD

"As stated before, when you fire the shutter with your eye against the EVF there is no review of the last image shot and the finder remains live just like an SLR. You take your eye away from the EVF and the last shot fired is on the LCD (you can of course go into review to look at all the images you have just taken). If you do nothing else but view the last image shot on the LCD and then place the camera to your eye then the LCD goes out and sits dormant till you take your eye away from the EVF and then again shows you the last image shot. What I like is the fact that you don`t have to touch the shutter button to be able to start shooting again like you would if you had the preview on permanently or the last image had appeared in the EVF. I was expecting to have to reset by half touch of the shutter. So you have a live all the time EVF with the ability to shot when you like with the added bonus that the last image stays on the lcd till to put the camera back to your eye. For me at least that works well."

Using The AF-C Custom Settings on the Fujifilm X-T2 | Dan Bailey's Adventure Photography Blog
"Ignoring Obstacles preset is ideal when your subjects are temporarily going outside of the frame (or your selected focus zone), or when they’re moving behind things like trees and other subject matter.

"With a slightly higher Tracking Sensitivity, it will wait a little bit longer before switching to a different zone. With Zone Area Switching set to CENTER, it will keep the focus set to the middle of the zone and it won’t grab a stray object at the edge of the zone.

"If I’m finding that I’m not getting sharp focus on my subjects, I’ll often switch to this mode. For the types of subjects I usually photograph, I find this setting to be one of my two favorites."

f.lux for Mac update
This post summarizes many of the options in Flux:
“• Dim on disable It’s always been painful to disable f.lux for a color check or late-night design work, so we’ve provided a new option that dims your screen (a lot) when you disable. Check out the “Options” menu for this feature.
• Backwards alarm clock For years we’ve wanted an alarm clock that answers the question, 'How much sleep will I get if I go to bed now?' So we made a little version of it for f.lux.
Better transitions If you woke up your laptop late in the day, f.lux used to do a very slow transition (as if you were “used to” the orange color). Now it transitions quickly to daylight instead. Also, we’ve tuned up behavior at night and in the morning for ‘bedtime' mode: the night-time and early morning transitions are longer now.
• Expanded daytime settings For users who prefer very warm settings during the day, we’ve made an option that lets the sliders go all the way to 1900K, all the time. We prefer accurate color during the day, but quite a few people have asked for extra control like this. You can find this feature in the Options menu."

Elevating X-Trans? Fujifilm X-T2 Review: Digital Photography Review
(About the Fuji X-T2’s custom-function buttons:)
"The addition of an autofocus joystick means not only is it quicker and easier to position the camera's focus point (regardless of camera orientation), but it also relieves the competition for the camera's eight custom function buttons. This makes it possible to assign most of the settings you regularly want to change (DR Mode, Film Simulation, Auto ISO Setting, AF Mode in my case), and use the Q.Menu occasionally, for adjusting more obscure parameters, such as Noise Reduction, Highlight and Shadow response."

The Canon that can: Canon EOS 80D Review: Digital Photography Review
On Canon’s auto-ISO implementation (and a decent rule of thumb about auto-ISO settings in general:
"The default shutter speed tends to be near one over the focal length, which in real world shooting, is often too slow, certainly for anything other than static scenes or landscapes. If you intend on using Auto ISO, we recommend biasing to a faster speed. I personally biased it 2-stops over the focal length."

Stupid Word Features that should be Turned Off
"Any Word user worth his salt is more than familiar with styles. Word uses styles very similar to how web browsers do. As opposed to constantly setting the font, size, alignment, and everything else for your text, you can specify it once as a style.

"Someone at Microsoft thought it would be helpful to create a feature called "Keep track of formatting" that would create and modify styles as you edited your Word document. A style named "Heading 1" would be recreated and named "Heading 1 + 11 pt" once you modified the font size of some text already under the "Heading 1" style."

Then I left 1 with the settings that I call "slow-paced considered shooting" (AF-S, single shot, spot focus, aperture priority, ISO 100, etc) and adjusted Memory 2 to be "fast-paced, grab shooting" (AF-C, zone focus, continuous shot, program priority, Auto ISO capped at 1600, etc). Combined with the exposure compensation dial, gives you plenty of control."

Ten Great New Settings on Sony a7RII
It looks like this might be handy for some Sony a7r II settings to try.

In particular, when it comes to Auto ISO:
“You can now select ISO Auto minimum shutter speed settings:

"Slower, Slow, Standard, Fast, or Faster, or choose your minimum shutter speed: 1/8000, 1/4000, 1/2000, 1/1000, 1/500, 1/250, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 sec., 2 sec., 4 sec., 8 sec., 15 sec., or 30 sec.

The first five of these are auto settings which vary based on focal length (provided there’s electronic communication between body and lens). Standard matches the settings found on previous a7-series cameras. Fast and faster raise the minimum shutter speed by one and 2-stops while slow and slower lower the minimum shutter speed by one and 2-stops."
