“it is very fun! but it is also VERY difficult to get into. i love it because it’s like music therapy, and requires enough concentration that it works for adhd/anxiety (for me, anyways). most people get frustrated after trying it, but if you stick with it, it gets easier. :)”

Rogue Amoeba - Under the Microscope » Blog Archive » 19 Terrific Tips for Audio Hijack 3
“The Time Shift Effect was added in Audio Hijack 3, but we really refined it in Audio Hijack 3.2. It’s found a devoted following of folks transcribing audio to text, and we worked to make that even easier. Time Shift now features a powerful popover that enables you to jump forward or back in 3, 10, or 30 second increments. You can tear off and pin that popover (as described in Tips #7 and #8) for easy access from anywhere.”

Michael Tsai - Blog - MacUpdater 1.4.15
(Well, this looks pretty neat.)
“I have only really tried MacUpdater, and it’s become one of my essential tools to have on the Mac. I have only had a quick look Latest, and it only covers app that use the Sparkle framework plus apps that are from the Mac App Store. Sure, those are already a lot of apps covered, and it’s free, but with the license for MacUpdater you get support for apps distributed via Sparkle, MAS, Homebrew Cask, individual developer appcasts, releases via GitHub etc., and CoreCode also maintain their own database of apps, which includes apps that users have installed/updated manually… even some of my own Platypus apps have found their way into the CoreCode database. And last, but not least, you can ask CoreCode to add apps to their database, if they’ve missed some special/obscure software.”

Restoring Deleted or Previous Versions of Files – Help Desk

“First, sign into your account and navigate to the View/Restore Files page and scroll down.

“To locate files that have been deleted or removed from your computer, often you need to change the ‘Files Backed Up From’ drop downs on the View/Restore Files page. Leave the ‘From’ side on ‘Beginning of Backup’ and set the ‘To’ side to a period of time when the files had not yet been deleted or removed, such as ‘7 days ago’.”

22 Handy Slack Hacks Everyone Should Know – ThinkGrowth.org
“11) Customize your Slack theme.
“Whether you use Slack for different groups and want to stay organized, or you just want to personalize the look and feel of your account, you can adjust your theme by selecting your name in the top left corner. From the drop-down menu next to your name, select ‘Preferences’ > ‘Sidebar Theme.’ From here, you can explore and select themes or scroll down to ‘Custom Theme’ to put in your own HTML color values.”

[…]

“14) Create custom triggers for Slackbot responses.

“Make Slack your own by customizing Slackbot’s automated responses to certain words or phrases. To do so, click on your name in the top left corner and select ‘Customize Slack’ from the dropdown menu. Select the second tab from the left labeled ‘Slackbot’ to access the message customization field. Insert one or multiple input phrases with commas, and then add a Slackbot response or responses by adding each one to its own line (‘Shift’ + ‘Enter’). If you insert multiple responses, Slack will call up one at random when it’s triggered.”

[…]

“20) Created a to-do list using stars.

“Starring an item on Slack is a way to mark a task as important. To star an item, simply move your mouse of a message or file and select the grey star to make it turn yellow. To view your starred items, click the star icon in the top right corner.

“Starring requests and files that you need to work on makes it easy for you to create a to-do list on the fly.”

When Workers Control the Code | WIRED
“In practice, that means more money goes to the people who actually put in the elbow grease. When customers use Up & Go to hire a house cleaner, only 5 percent goes to the app (3 percent for transaction costs and a wee 2 percent for business costs like running Up & Go’s servers and development). There’s no venture capitalist demanding hockey-stick growth or profits. ‘Investors are nowhere at the table,’ says Danny Spitzberg, who worked for a year and a half at CoLab, a digital agency, on Up & Go. The house cleaners make an average $22.25 per hour, about $5 more than the area average.”

“Could we see more of these worker-run efforts? Indeed. Stocksy is a high-quality stock photography cooperative run by its members, offering such high pay to photographers that ‘‘pinch me’ is the thing that comes to mind,’ laughs Suzanne Clements, a Florida member.”

CalZones Review – MacStories
“CalZones, available today on the App Store as a Universal app, is based on a simple, ingenious concept that, to the best of my knowledge, has never been done on the App Store before: the app combines a time zone viewer with a calendar client, enabling you to compare times across multiple cities as well as view and create calendar events that display start/end times in multiple formats. By fusing time zone comparisons and calendar events into one product, Smith was able to create an app that is greater than the sum of its parts because it solves a problem that neither traditional world clocks nor calendar clients could fix before.”

“Since Sleepscore and S+ both use the same form of detection - Resmed acquiring them was probably to take out a direct competitor or because the Sleepscore algorithm is better. Resmed (being one of the big 2 sleep apnea machine companies) must have been planning to use this as a sleep apnea detector that would then drive their CPAP / MPAP machine business - so why isn’t there a specific part of the software for this. Visualize Your Wall Painted a Different Color With These Apps
“Painting your walls is definitely an undertaking, but not quite as much of an undertaking as figuring out what paint color you want to use.

“Selecting a paint color has traditionally entailed heading down to your local paint shop to color swatches or samples and holding them up against the wall to try and figure out how the wall would look covered in the color in question. Now thanks so AI, you can do that from your couch.”

How to sign up for Twttr | iMore
“Twitter is using Twttr as an experimental testing space where they can focus on new designs for threaded conversations on the social media platform. The current iteration of this prototype app show tweets and replies as more like chat bubbles, reminiscent of messenger apps like iMessage or WhatsApp. The replies in threads also appear to be color-coded to differentiate between people you follow and everyone else.”

Clicking an app in the system menu bar - Questions & Suggestions - Keyboard Maestro Discourse
(On using Keyboard Maestro’s “Click at Found Image” function)
“To click relative to an image, you use the Mouse Click action, configure it to be relative to a found image, and take a screenshot of the desired area of the screen using Command-Control-Shift-4, and paste it into the image well on the action. The image has to be unique (which includes not being visible in the action if the image is small enough not to be shrunk in the image well) otherwise Keyboard Maestro will not know where to click. The Display option in the action will allow you to see where Keyboard Maestro is matching.”

UI Browser by PFiddlesoft
(This is basically that Accessibility Inspector that you were thinking of—such as for getting the button names and the like for scripting like with Keyboard Maestro.)

KextViewr - Objective-See
“KextViewr is a utility with a simply goal; display all currently loaded kexts. While Apple’s commandline tool ‘kextstat’ can provide similar information, it is (IMHO), somewhat lacking. For example, it does not provide file paths for loaded kernel extentions, or whether or not, the kext is signed.”
