What's Pinterest?

* It's a free online scrapbook that people use to find and share images on the Web.

Start-Up Lets B-to-Bs Get Their 'Groupon'
OCTOBER 28, 2010 | WSJ | Sarah Needleman. Call it Groupon for
the business world. Two-year-old networking site OfficeArrow.com is
trying to replicate the success of group-buying sites with a twist: It
lists only discounted products and services for businesses, not
consumers.

OfficeArrow's "Deal of the Day" feature offers 50%-to-90% reductions on
items such as training software, payroll services and toner cartridges,
for one day only. The site, which launched in late August, is a way for
small "business-to-business," or "B-to-B," companies to develop
customized deals as an alternative to traditional advertising, says
chief executive and co-founder Robert Ball.

Getting Goods on Store Shelves - WSJ.com
* MARCH 13, 2011

For entrepreneurs with products to sell, a wide range of sales channels
abound -- from boutiques to big-box stores to online marketplaces. But
identifying appropriate retailers -- and striking deals with them -- can
be a challenging first-time endeavor. Experts say the best strategy is
to research venues that are a strong fit and prepare a compelling and
succinct sales pitch.

Path to the Top: StrategiesFor Women Seeking a Board Seat - WSJ.com
October 9, 2006 | Wall Street Journal | By SARAH E. NEEDLEMAN.

While strategies for landing a board seat are pretty much the same for men and women, women typically are less comfortable carrying out some of them, says Ms. Alfus-Rothman. "It's not always in their nature to be self-promoting," she says. "Women hope the world will figure out how brilliant they are through their work, when in truth, it's their job to get the word out."

One way for a woman to increase her chances of landing a seat on a corporate board is to serve on the boards of nonprofit organizations, start-up companies, industry or professional associations or community groups

For Entrepreneurs, Sharing Isn't Always Fun - WSJ.com
APRIL 13, 2010 | Wall Street Journal | By SARAH E. NEEDLEMAN.
For Entrepreneurs, Sharing Isn't Always Fun Equity in Lieu of Pay Can
Help Business Owners Lure Talent, but Many May Not Want to Part With
Future Profits.
Offering equity can be an especially useful tool in a downturn. Business
owners should be able to more easily offset a below-market salary with
equity-based pay when unemployment is high, theorizes Andrew Zacharakis,
professor of entrepreneurship at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. "A
lot of people are trying to get something on their résumé, even though
it may not pay as much as what they earn in a good economic climate," he
says.

Equity can also sweeten a job offer for candidates who are always in
high demand because they possess unique skills or knowledge.

Internal Hires Trumped Outsiders in 2009 - WSJ.com
FEBRUARY 18, 2010 | Wall Street Journal | by SARAH E.
NEEDLEMAN. What the findings indicate, says Mark Mehler, co-founder of
CareerXroads, is that networking is the most effective strategy for
landing employment. "Job seekers should use job board and corporate
sites to find information about openings, but they should use their
network to apply," says Mark Mehler, co-founder of CareerXroads.
