The Decline of the Civil-Rights Establishment
Black leaders weren't so much outraged at injustice as they were by the disregard of their own authority.

The West Must Act Now or Rue the Day -
August 29, 2006 | Letters to the editor

"What we have in the Middle East is not a clash of civilizations but a maelstrom of irrationalism. The West has been incapacitated by appeasement, corruption and denial because many people suffer from an aversion to conflict. On the other hand, you have an Islamic world in decline where its most anti-social elements project on to others their feelings of inadequacy while denying any guilt of their own for the situation their culture is in. Unfortunately, these radicals have intimidated the majority of Muslims into acquiescence for their terrorist views and actions."

Of Race and Imagination -
December 18, 2002 | WSJ | By SHELBY STEELE.

conservatism, for all its commitment to freedom, did not make itself the principled enemy of racism during the civil-rights era. Here was a movement grounded in the principles of classic liberalism and, rather than rush to its support, some conservatives bent the principle of states' rights into a tolerance of segregation while others simply sat it out....Democracies expand individual rights past the barriers of race, class and gender precisely by encouraging imaginative identification with difference -- by asking men to put themselves in the shoes of women, whites in the shoes of blacks, and so on....

Shelby Steele: The Exploitation of Trayvon Martin -
April 6, 2012 | WSJ | by Shelby Steele.

The absurdity of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton is that they want to make a movement out of an anomaly. Black teenagers today are afraid of other black teenagers, not whites.

Barack The Good
The big government liberalism that Mr. Obama uses to make himself
history-making also alienates him in the center-right America of today.
