How AI & Machine Learning Are Redefining The War For Talent
"Of the five companies Gartner names as Cool Vendors in the field of Human Capital Management for Talent Acquisition, Eightfold is the only one achieving personalization at scale today. Attaining personalization at scale is essential if any growing business is going to succeed in attracting, acquiring and growing talent that can support their growth goals and strategies. Eightfold’s approach makes it possible to scale personalized responses to specific candidates in a company’s candidate community while defining the ideal candidate for each open position."

Plex Systems Accelerates Push Into IoT With DATTUS Acquisition
"Think about it. As consumers, we didn’t loudly voice our desire for AI or NLP. But that didn’t stop Apple from delivering Siri on an iPhone. Pretty soon Microsoft delivered Cortana on Windows 10; Google delivered Google Now; Amazon delivered Alexa and now Bixby is on your (newer) Samsung Galaxy. We see these digital technologies being absorbed into the manufacturing landscape in much the same way, as long as solution providers like Plex and DATTUS continue to innovate and push them into the mainstream."

Kenandy Customers Find a New Home With Rootstock - by @erp_cindyjutras
"So, given the similarities between the two, this begs the ultimate question regarding products moving forward: Will the resulting combined company continue to develop, maintain and support two distinct products? And should it? Mr. Garrehy has already made it clear that the Kenandy product will live on, and has further speculated that the combined company will likely have two distinct product lines, serving at least somewhat different markets. While not cast in stone, perhaps the Kenandy ERP will move in the direction of light manufacturing and distribution, while the Rootstock product will support heavy-duty, more complex manufacturing."

Market Move - SAP acquires Callidus - More Sales Effectiveness in the Back Office of the Front Office - by @holgermu
"SAP hasn’t been on the 1B+ acquisition path since 2014, and at the same time is building out its next generation ERP offering with S/4AHANA. SAP seemed to be on an organic build out path of capabilities, so the more (or less) was the surprise that SAP stepped back into acquisition mode, acquiring Dublin, CA based Callidus Cloud (Callidus going forward here) for 2.4B US$."

Summer News Analysis - Google introduces Google Hire - by @holgermu
"Google is getting more and more in the enterprise software space / SaaS market. Good to see it knows that e.g. data migration and reports are a must for the enterprise. It will have to answer questions soon in regards of plans to offer more than recruiting capabilities, e.g. onboarding and learning come to mind."

First Take - Google enters enterprise software space with Google Jobs API
"Good to see Google using expertise and moving it towards enterprise applications. One more offering that helps Google move the conversation towards the enterprise, something the vendor desparately wants to foster, grow and ultimately monetize."

Musings - Quo vadis Twitter? Who could, should buy Twitter - and what is Twitter really? - by @holgermu
"It is fascinating to see Twitter grow to its current usage level and still struggle with monetization, turning to a profit. There are many assets inside of Twitter that can be of value for an acquirer – but they are all not easy to unlock, leverage. To me Google makes the most sense – but not sure if the vendor has the appetite to such a large investment."

Market Move - Dell Technologies is here - 3 scenarios and a bonus perspective - by @holgermu
"A large part of the Dell business will be hardware, and despite Dell building market share with PCs, overall PC sales are slowly dwindling, and servers that Dell can built are commoditized to the point that the don’t need to be purchased from Dell (neither its competitors)."

Market Move - Randstad to acquire Monster Worldwide - Bridges a moat, now it has to work - by @holgermu
"This is an interesting move and may give the executives at Adecco, Kelly Services, Manpower, Robert Half and more some food for thought. If Randstad can become more strategic for HR decision makers and enterprises overall, then all will have to react. In the meantime, they may sit on the sideline and hope Randstad may get distracted and may not deliver, but that’s a risky strategy. There are enough Monster competitors with similar structural market challenges – their valuation maybe on the rise."

News Analysis: Plex Adds Supply Chain Planning With DemandCaster Acquisition - by @rwang0
"Prospects can keep Plex in the short lists for Manufacturing Cloud. While large vendors such as Oracle and SAP try to move down market, prospects continue to complain about the high cost of ownership and complexity despite a cloud delivery. Smaller competitors Rootstock and Kenandy still lack the full functionality of Plex. Netsuite’s acquisition by Oracle may cause some distractions during post-merger integration. The result – limited players in the space."

Oracle and NetSuite: Separate Fact from Speculation - by @erp_cindyjutras
"So… what do I think is the motivation behind this acquisition? I think it is mostly about cloud market share. Of course, this is my opinion, but Larry Ellison’s stated goal of being the first company to reach $10 billion in cloud revenue is a pretty good hint. A secondary factor may very well be the cloud DNA, so to speak, that would come with a company and solution born in the cloud."

Market Move - Oracle acquires NetSuite - Oddly consolidation means more options for customers - by @holgermu
"This is likely not going to affect Oracle Cloud customers. Oracle has been a serial acquirer, the company knows how to do acquisitions, though this is the 2nd largest acquisition Oracle has done. And NetSuite has more overlap with many Oracle products than Peoplesoft had – e.g. NetSuite brings working CRM and Manufacturing applications to Oracle (something Peoplesoft did to a lesser extend). So Oracle will have to be very clear on where it sees the sweet spot for either product and what customers can expect to use depending on their size and use case"

News Analysis: Oracle’s $9.3B Acquisition Of Netsuite Is About Cloud Consolidation - by @rwang0
"Battle for cloud revenue continues. Oracle, as with every cloud vendor, seeks to grow their subscription revenues. Netsuite brings almost 800M in revenue and grows the overall market share. This adds to Oracle’s overall stock market valuations. Moreover, Larry keeps Netsuite in the family to avoid competitors from encroaching on the Oracle market."

Data Integration - by @mfauscsette
""In a recent G2 Crowd survey (May 2016, N = 347), 62.2% of the respondents reported that integrating data across multiple platforms was having an impact / high impact on their current business strategy. That answer was a tie for 2nd in the overall survey for impact on strategy, with only improving customer experience scoring higher."

Integrating the Commerce Experience: Salesforce to Acquire Demandware - by @mfauscette
"To compare the platforms from SAP, Oracle and Demandware then, you can see on the Grid the relative positions. While SAP Hybris and Oracle have a higher MP score, which shouldn’t be surprising, Demandware, the smaller company by itself, has higher satisfaction overall. If you compare the 3 products in the “compare” view you can see the overall star rating and the 7 satisfaction metrics like this."

News Analysis: Acquisition Brings Salesforce Customers To The Commerce Party - by @rwang0
" Salesforce outbid many competitors to win over Demandware. The acquisition gives Salesforce.com ammo to fend off IBM Smarter Commerce and Hybris deals, despite Hybris mostly being on-premises based. The future of CRM includes commerce because at the end of the day, conversion rate optimization matters. Going forward, Salesforce could include the B2B commerce space adding partners such as Avangate, Cloud Craze, and Digital River as part of the overall industry vertical strategy. Meanwhile, expect Adobe and Microsoft to step up their efforts around B2C and B2B commerce."

Comparing Software using Peer Reviews - by @mfauscette
"The software buying decision making process can be complex and varies by company. Just by the nature of the process it’s necessary to build a list of potential solutions and then to compare them in some way to a list of business and technical requirements and to each other. Everyone has their own mental model on what a comparison should include but there are ways to facilitate the analysis of the information by presenting it in ways that can be easily consumed."
