Event Report - ADP Meeting of the Minds - Wisely front and center - and the rest?
"On the concern side, ADP is to shy to give ADP MOTM attendees the product updates that they deserve. A roller coaster event-based communication strategy like on Liffion and PI does not make sense. The irony is that it usually predicts product issues and delays, and that is not the case for ADP at the moment. When the cat is out of the bag, you need to keep talking about how it is doing, developing etc. One of the big mysteries of my analyst career."

Progress Report - ADP Analyst Day 2018 - Things are looking up
"ADP product portfolio gets stronger and stronger, now it has to prove itself in practice. Following the roll out waves in 2019 will be key for prospects and customers. The ability to have payroll managers configure, change and operate a payroll are innovative, at least of the scale that ADP needs to support. The team approach of Liffion is equally key, as teams are the org units that make and break enterprise success. And for that, very little has been done in the past to support teams and their leaders."

Event Report - ADP rethink - Great event and a lot in the making - by @holgermu
"On the concern side, ADP will have to switch the format of the event from vision heavy to more product centric. It would almost be a crime in the positioning category not showing and sharing with its global customers what is happening with Lifion and Pi."

SAP hits 150 on platform – is it enough?
"Without actually calling out Workday, it is clear that SAP have their sights targeted on its rival. Workday announced their platform earlier this year. However, while Aneel Bhusir, CEO Workday mentioned that they are working with ISV’s there are no actual announcements on applications. With Workday Rising, possibly the place where these will be unveiled, SAP clearly wanted to state their case strongly at their own convention."

Event Report - FInancialForce Community Live 2017 - All about Services - by @holgermu
"On the concern side – it is always sensitive when vendors retrench in footprint plans and ambition. FinancialForce has done a respectable job at addressing these concerns and informing customers ahead of the changes in HCM and the partnership with ADP. At the end of the day it is better for vendors to realize what the can do with their R&D budgets, and better to stop too ambitious plans sooner than later What matters for FinancialForce customers is that the partnership with ADP will deliver – if and when it does – the potential FUD around this change - will all be history."

HCM Fertile Ground for Data Science - by @fscavo
"Admittedly, many of these questions raise the specter of “Big Brother,” and employees may push back if they begin to feel as if they are being profiled. But with the stakes so high, can any business leader afford to not consider tools that, properly applied, could mitigate significant risks to the business?

In private conversations, some HCM providers (not necessarily the six highlighted earlier) indicate that they are thinking about how they can address these types of issues. They may not be talking about them publicly, but new applications of data science for HCM may be coming soon."

Big Data Analytics Not Just for the Big Guys
"Based on our experience as consumers, it is evident that these “big guys” know how to use “big data.” But what about small to midsize companies? Like large companies, they also need to better understand the market, target their best prospects, and better serve their customers. However, in the past, they have not had the computing resources to gather and store petabytes of data, nor the internal skills to analyze all that data."

Progress Report - ADP Analyst Day 2016 - ADP has turned around Vantage HCM - by @holgermu
"On the concern side ADP cannot afford to rest. While the current UI is still appealing, it is no longer as fresh and in tune with the latest innovations in UI that are happening these days. Likewise its Data Cloud is on the right architecture and platform, given these decisions were taken 2+ years ago, but a fresh start today may consider other platforms, designs and architectures."

Event Report - ADP MOTM - ADP delivers: New UI, Benchmarks, Market Place & More - by @holgermu
"A very good MOTM for ADP, the vendor has delivered what it promised a year ago and now has a competitive product, for the first time I can think of. Good to see ADP is not resting on its product laurels and has more interesting offerings and products coming. Naturally, focus now turns to sales and services, customers need to understand and adopt the new offerings. Too early to tell how well ADP will do here."

Zenefits vs. ADP: The points to ponder - by @ldignan
"The storyline here is that ADP is cutting Zenefits off for being innovative. If the roles were reversed the press would probably be noting that Zenefits can't build a business on someone else's platform."

News Analysis - Workday supports UK Payroll - now speaks (British English) Payroll - by @holgermu
"Payroll and related services are somewhere beyond 80 to 90% of HCM enterprise spend, and making sure that an enterprises is compliant with legal and statutory updates, as well as it can pay its employees correctly and on time is a ‘must have’ for HR Leaders… so big news today comes from Workday – as the vendor is adding Payroll support for the UK in Workday 24, its 3rd vendor supported country (Workday supports USA and Canada already). Event Report - Oracle HCM World - Full Steam ahead, a Learning surprise and potential growth challenges - by @holgermu
"A good event for Oracle customers and the vendor, who keeps showing traction in HCM. Oracle believes, as Hurd shared that when you have the ‘foot in the door’ with HCM in the cloud – the rest of the enterprises will follow. As much as we agree that the ‘golden rule’ of enterprise software that ‘suites always win’ should remain true for the cloud era, we also know that the PeopleSoft history (on premise of course) has shown us differently."

First Take - Oracle HCM World Thursday Keynote - off to a good start - by @holgermu #hcmworld
"Oracle committed to HCM – from top down – Similar like last year Mark Hurd opened the event, which is a good sign showing the top executives are committed to keep up the HCM momentum. To compare – other vendors in the big, big category (SAP, Microsoft) have not shown the same presence – or not even formulated their HCM strategy. "
