Event Report - ADP Meeting of the Minds - Wisely front and center - and the rest?
"On the concern side, ADP is to shy to give ADP MOTM attendees the product updates that they deserve. A roller coaster event-based communication strategy like on Liffion and PI does not make sense. The irony is that it usually predicts product issues and delays, and that is not the case for ADP at the moment. When the cat is out of the bag, you need to keep talking about how it is doing, developing etc. One of the big mysteries of my analyst career."

The State of Recruiting Technology in 2019 — A Year of Consolidation, Growth & Innovation
"Oracle and IBM, in particular, are hemorrhaging market share (see above) and customers are now demanding that their core recruiting platforms do more than just process applicants. They must also become global marketing platforms that engage their audience (i.e. candidates), drive corporate initiatives such as diversity and inclusion, and support career and pay progression."

Let’s Take the Cult out of Silicon Valley Culture
"I’m not saying long work hours, free lunch, and and ping pong tables are bad. I am saying that many Silicon Valley cultures border on cults. Leaders should pay attention to this and try to avoid falling into common cult patterns, for example, by ensuring diverse recruiting programs, by building on-boarding programs that are more training than brainwashing, and by creating a culture that values dissenting opinions."

Event Report - Kronos KronosWorks 2018 - Kronos is firing on all cylinders...
"On the concern side, Kronos needs to accelerate on the AI side, it is relatively late with Aimee and it needs to come up with a voice driven UI, which is key for end users. That is all not too far away for Kronos, but it needs to happen. Moving from Workforce Management to HCM means that vendors cannot hide under the complexity and compliance blanket but must show some style and appeal to motivate users… and we are not even talking Talent Management here. Kronos also needs to get their buying center to step up inside the HR buying center, quite a change for the current Kronos supporters."

Progress Report - ADP Analyst Day 2018 - Things are looking up
"ADP product portfolio gets stronger and stronger, now it has to prove itself in practice. Following the roll out waves in 2019 will be key for prospects and customers. The ability to have payroll managers configure, change and operate a payroll are innovative, at least of the scale that ADP needs to support. The team approach of Liffion is equally key, as teams are the org units that make and break enterprise success. And for that, very little has been done in the past to support teams and their leaders."

Event Report - Oracle HCM World 2018 - Dallas - Steady Progress
"A good HCM World for Oracle, the product keeps progressing and customers and ecosystem are positive. Customers tap more and more into the suite benefits, adding modules after originally going live on more administrative functions as ESS / MSS and Payroll. Needless from the start though, suite level benefits are tangible and create productivity for users as well as HR departments, all leading to a more positive stance towards the product, in this case Oracle HCM Cloud."

Event Report - SAP SuccessFactors SuccessConnect - New Leadership - Old Challenges - by @holgermu
"On the concern side, SuccessFactors still needs to find its way inside, versus or with the SAP mainstream. The acquisition is soon more than six years ago and while SuccessFactors has delivered a compelling HR Core product with EmployeeCentral, it need to address looming payroll (no mention in keynote) and overall platform / suite level questions. The sooner, the better. And as a general conversation, HR conferences increasingly seem to be about celebrities and good vibes. All good but the product message can’t be overshadowed too much."

"Yet although Garrett’s criticisms were largely unsupported, they were repeated uncritically, including on the popular FOSS Force site, under the headline “Linux Foundation sells out.” The article attracted another series of criticisms altogether: that the Foundation had no interest in desktop Linux and was no more than “another corporate power play,” and that the community needed to fight the “hypocrisy” of corporations and ensure that they never controlled the direction of open source development."

Progress Report - ADP Analyst Day 2016 - ADP has turned around Vantage HCM - by @holgermu
"On the concern side ADP cannot afford to rest. While the current UI is still appealing, it is no longer as fresh and in tune with the latest innovations in UI that are happening these days. "Cornerstone is doing well on all fronts. The vendor has a shot at breaking even for the first time in 2016 based on GAAP rules and is expanding its product offering, boldly, more bold than I would have expected. This could be the strategic junction where it is clear that Cornerstone has left the ‘Talent Management only’ offering, and is moving to cover much more HCM automation (for now with Link in HR Core and with Workforce Planning gets into Workforce Management)"

Progress Report - SAP SuccessFactors makes good progress - now needs appeal beyond SAP - by @holgermu
"On the concern side, SuccessFactors operated on considerable technical debt incurred over the years, mostly before the acquisition. At some point SAP needs to address that, and that will be a substantial investment. It looks to me as if there are some resource constraints (they are always there, but focusing e.g. on ‘horizontal’ is an indication), that are not of immediate concern, but if SAP SuccessFactors wants to be appealing beyond the SAP install base, it needs to start investing in differentiating ideas now."
