74% Of Data Breaches Start With Privileged Credential Abuse
"Enterprises who are prioritizing privileged credential security are creating a formidable competitive advantage over their peers, ensuring operations won’t be interrupted by a breach. However, there’s a widening gap between those businesses protected from a breach and the many who aren’t. In quantifying this gap consider the typical U.S.-based enterprise will lose on average $7.91M from a breach, nearly double the global average of $3.68M according to IBM’s 2018 Data Breach Study."

Progress Report - ADP Analyst Day 2018 - Things are looking up
"ADP product portfolio gets stronger and stronger, now it has to prove itself in practice. Following the roll out waves in 2019 will be key for prospects and customers. The ability to have payroll managers configure, change and operate a payroll are innovative, at least of the scale that ADP needs to support. The team approach of Liffion is equally key, as teams are the org units that make and break enterprise success. And for that, very little has been done in the past to support teams and their leaders."

Analytics Are Empowering Next-Gen Access And Zero Trust Security
"Machine learning-based NGA platforms including Centrify calculate a risk score that quantifies the relative level of trust based on every access attempt across an IT infrastructure. NGA platforms rely on machine learning algorithms to continuously learn and generate contextual intelligence that is used to streamline verified user’s access while thwarting many potential threats ― the most common of which is compromised credentials. IT security teams can combine the insights gained from machine learning, user profiles, and contextual intelligence to fine-tune the variables and attributes that calculate risk scores using cloud-enabled analytics services.

Down Report – Power failure takes Azure services down - 3 Cloud Load Toads - by @holgermu
"Good summary of what happened, a power failure / power event. Good to see that customers were notified. Power events can always be tricky to recover, and it looks like Azure management erred on the side of caution bringing up services rack by rack and then adding services like SLB later. But the downtime for affected customers was long, best case – when in the first 25% of racks was almost four hours, and worst case 10 hours+. Remarkable it took Azure technicians 2 hours 20 or so minutes to get the power back."

Google’s Enterprise Ambitions – Google Cloud Next ’17 Report - by @krishnan
"I have long been advocating that Google’s path to relevance in the cloud is through Machine Learning and AI. I heard the same from various enterprise customers in this conference. One of Google’s strengths is in big data and, with the announcements related to Machine Learning, they are positioning themselves as the go-to cloud for ML workloads. Google’s machine learning engine and Google Vision API is now generally available."

Down Report - Human error takes AWS S3 down in US-EAST-1 - and it is felt - 3.8 Cloud Load Toads - by @holgermu
"MyPOV – Certainly production and billing systems need to be connected, and in many scenarios the production system can create issues with the load triggered for the billing system. But a production system should never be able to be stopped by an administrative system, like a billing system. Production should be kept running, billing can be worried about later. It is likely that the S3 billing system (my speculation) is using S3, too – creating a potential recursive dependency. Needless to say – these systems should be isolated."

Top 5 Takeaways From Panorama's 2016 ERP Report - by @erickimberling
"1. Business transformation is still not the top reason for pursuing ERP implementations. Unfortunately, too many organizations still take a myopically flawed approach to their ERP implementations. The #1 reason for selecting a new ERP system was to replace the old system. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it shows that too many companies are replacing systems because they have to – not because they want to pursue a larger business transformation."

Takeaways From Panorama's 2015 Manufacturing ERP Report - by @erickimberling
"The mix of ERP vendors among manufacturers is very different than in other industries. Our original 2015 ERP Report, published earlier this year, showed SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics leading the pack among ERP vendors in all industries. However, Microsoft Dynamics shows the largest market share in the manufacturing space which is quickly followed by Epicor and Infor. This proves that manufacturers have unique – and oftentimes complex – business requirements that aren’t as well met by all ERP vendors. It also highlights the importance of an independent and thorough ERP software selection process."

"Despite industry buzz, over the last several years Software as a Service (SaaS) adoption has hovered at a relatively low level. However, this year we saw an exponential increase in SaaS and cloud adoption. This year 33% of organizations implemented a SaaS solution, compared to just 4% last year."
