Progress Report - IBM Alliances Insights - Deep Plans, now it is execution time - by @holgermu
"On the concern side, IBM now needs to execute on these plans, without falling back to traditional ‘professional services’ roots and deliver the more IP based, productized offerings. IBM has the DNA, resources and people to do that, but they need to come together at the right time. The Rubicon that the services business has to cross is not to only leverage existing product commitments from a services perspective, but to create lasting IP or even product offerings that create a flywheel effect between its services and these new products."

News Analysis - Workday, IBM Form Strategic Partnership on the IBM Cloud - The IaaS vendor race for SaaS load is on
"MyPOV – Describes well what is going – Workday ‘has adopted’ IBM Cloud (likely SoftLayer) but will become the foundation for Workday’s development and test environments. Development and test environments are usually of less interest to SaaS customers, but the cost of providing, provisioning and maintaining them is a large chunk of CAPEX for any ISV / SaaS provider."

Progress Report - IBM Cloud makes good progress - but needs to attract more load - by @holgermu
"On the concern side, IBM is a cloud player with fewer ‘organic’ load than competitors. IBM reminds us of the 1000 SaaS properties that are in the IBM fold, but that’s not enough to reach the economics of scale that are needed to succeed long term in the cloud."

Progress Report - Oracle Cloud makes progress - but key work remains in the cellar - by @holgermu
"No questions Oracle is making a lot of progress with its cloud products. And Oracle is doing a great job at making them leverage each other (I would love to see the dependency diagrams) – while making sure they have a standalone business benefit as a singular product. Oracle is also more granular than other vendors with an enterprise software or hardware background moving to the cloud, but Oracle has to make sure the offerings don’t get too complex and remain easy to understand, market and sell, later implement and operate."

First Take - IBM InterConnect Day #1 Keynote - BlueMix, SoftLayer, Watson - by @holgermu
"It is end of February and it is time to make it to Las Vegas for IBM InterConnect, the new mega IBM event, combining three separate previous events. Spanning from Mandalay Bay to MGM Grand it will for sure get those health tracker stats up – but better one mega event than 3 trips… "

News Analysis - VMware makes progress towards the (hybrid) cloud - now let's watch the adoption - by @holgermu
"Holger takes apart another press release..."VMware seems to have made February the month of the cloud and is promising 28 days of Cloud Insight (see more here). VMware execs must be pretty confident that they have enough material – as they did not even include the recently (well last week) announced partnership with Google (more here). So let’s dissect the press release from February 2nd 2015 that kicked off a webinar series lead by VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger and CTO Ben Fathi."
