Dale H. Emery - Conversations with Dale - The Spiral Method for Writing Zeroth Drafts
On the third night, as I was falling asleep, I refined again, resulting in a process that I call The Spiral Method for Writing Zeroth Drafts:

1. Write the nugget.
2. Write any questions I want to ask about what I have written so far.
3. Select the question that I have the most energy for answering, and answer it. Return to step 2.
4. Stop when I've answered all of the questions, or when I have little energy to answer any of the unanswered questions.

software - node.js
Those of you who still find it enjoyable to learn the details of, say, a programming language – being able to happily recite off if NaN equals or does not equal null – you just don’t yet understand how utterly fucked the whole thing is. If you think it would be cute to align all of the equals signs in your code, if you spend time configuring your window manager or editor, if put unicode check marks in your test runner, if you add unnecessary hierarchies in your code directories, if you are doing anything beyond just solving the problem – you don’t understand how fucked the whole thing is. No one gives a fuck about the glib object model.

Paste text on Android Emulator - Stack Overflow []
In a terminal, type adb shell input text 'my string here. With some characters escaped like \$ that'

This one's sketchy. I'm sure something wrong with the quotes there, but theoretically 'pbpaste' should be able to feed into this somehow.

How to get an array of unique values from an array containing duplicates in JavaScript? - Stack Overflow
Array.prototype.unique = function() {
var unique = [];
for (var i = 0; i < this.length; i++) {
if (unique.indexOf(this[i]) == -1) {
return unique;

If you're okay with mutating the array, this works:
[1,2,3,1,1].filter(function(elem,idx,arr){ return arr.indexOf(elem) >= idx; });

Not sure why that poster used '>=', though.

Insane Coding: OAuth - A great way to cripple your API []
If you're looking to implement authorization for your API, I recommend to sticking with well understood secure designs, such as HTTP Basic Authentication over SSL/TLS (or HTTP Digest Authentication).

In order to achieve a situation where users can securely authorize third party software, without giving over their personal credentials (passwords), I recommend that these services have a page where they can generate new credentials (keys) which the user can copy and paste. They can then name these keys themselves (avoiding application registration hassle), and set permissions upon them themselves. Since the user is the one initiating the key creation, and copying and pasting it themselves, they cannot fall prey to a man-in-the-middle attack where the third party software initiates the authorization process.
