TermiT/Flycut: Clean and simple clipboard manager for developers
See also: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/flycut-clipboard-manager/id442160987
Forked from: https://github.com/snark/jumpcut/

It's just OK, but there's still no way to reliably ignore clipboard input from specific programs (like clipboard managers). Maccy pretty much gets the job done.

CutBox
This one is interesting because of the JavaScript transforms (which I didn't explore), and it does let you remove items from the history, but beyond that it's not great.

Flycut (available in the app store) is a fork of this.

Maccy - clipboard manager for macOS
See also: https://github.com/p0deje/Maccy

I picked this one, because it respects when KeePassX clears the clipboard.

Initial setup:
<code class="language-bash">defaults write org.p0deje.Maccy hotKey control+command+c
# optionally
# defaults write org.p0deje.Maccy pasteByDefault true # default is false</code>

Giving this app permission to control accessibility features is only necessary if you want it to paste by default (default: false).

Access clipboard in Windows batch file - Stack Overflow
tl;dr:
<code class="language-powershell">get-clipboard</code>

(works on Windows 10 at least)

The alternatives are ghastly:
Slimming it down (on a new enough version of Windows):
<code class="language-powershell">set _getclip=powershell "Add-Type -Assembly PresentationCore;[Windows.Clipboard]::GetText()"
for /f "eol=; tokens=*" %I in ('%_getclip%') do set CLIPBOARD_TEXT=%I</code>

- First line declares a powershell commandlet.
- Second line runs and captures the console output of this commandlet into the CLIPBOARD_TEXT enviroment variable (cmd.exe's closest way to do bash style backtick ` capture)

(and that was one of the _concise_ solutions)

peritus/bumpversion: Version-bump your software with a single command
Pretty handily replaces what I used to use a complicated custom Makefile for, except that it *only* does version numbers, not "last updated" dates or anything like that.

Handy note:
Options on the command line take precedence over those from the config file, which take precedence over those derived from the environment and then from the defaults.

It's just okay. The 'stack' build system is pretty nifty, though ('stack install' puts the binary in ~/.local/bin by default, which I like).

GitHub - tomnomnom/gf: A wrapper around grep, to help you grep for things
gf - A wrapper around grep to avoid typing common patterns.

What? Why?

I use grep a lot. When auditing code bases, looking at the output of meg, or just generally dealing with large amounts of data. I often end up using fairly complex patterns like this one:

▶ grep -HnrE '(\$_(POST|GET|COOKIE|REQUEST|SERVER|FILES)|php://(input|stdin))' *

It's really easy to mess up when typing all of that, and it can be hard to know if you haven't got any results because there are non to find, or because you screwed up writing the pattern or chose the wrong flags.

I wrote gf to give names to the pattern and flag combinations I use all the time. So the above command becomes simply:

▶ gf php-sources

<code class="language-bash">function j() {

else
cd "$@" 2> /dev/null || z "$@"

}</code>

When you are using j xxx it will first try cd xxx and then z xxx if cd failed.

benibela/xidel: A command line tool to download and extract data from HTML/XML pages or JSON-APIs, using CSS, XPath 3.0, XQuery 3.0, JSONiq or pattern templates. It can also create new or transformed XML/HTML/JSON documents.
This tool seems to be able to deal with malformed HTML that 'xmllint' and 'xmlstarlet' choke on (even after a pass through 'tidy').
