kme : driver   75 - How to disable HP Device Manager Autostart
PITA huh, the presumption that everyone needs or wants that service running? Kind of like Windows....

* Create $HOME/.config/autostart/hplip-systray.desktop

* In that text file add this:

[Desktop Entry]

In addition to that, because I don't want the service running at all, I delete /etc/xdg/autostart/hplip-systray.desktop. I delete the file because the file gets updated every time hplip gets updated.

Kernel Mode Setting (KMS) is great, but may not work as expected
The real solution is, thus, to optionally disable probing of the monitor and to directly feed appropriate monitor data into the kernel. For this purpose, the kernel configuration item CONFIG_DRM_LOAD_EDID_FIRMWARE was introduced. If enabled, the drm_kms_helper module will accept the parameter edid_firmware=, search for the given file in the /lib/firmware directory and use its data, if valid, to initialize the monitor timings of the graphics adapter as if it had been received from the monitor. Four standard timings are hard-coded in the driver and available immediately:

1024x768/60 Hz

1280x1024/60 Hz

1680x1050/60 Hz

1920x1080/60 Hz

To force, for example, a screen resolution of 1280x1024/60 Hz, simply remove nomodeset from, add drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/1280x1024.bin to the kernel command, and enjoy a much faster screen and all the eye candy you missed so long.

bow0314 - I downloaded it but couldn't get it to work, says 'damaged or incomplete'

However, I did get some success with this;
change Tablet Model to Graphire (ET) and Operating System to Mac OS X
download Driver 6.05-3
you'll need to install using CTRL + Open as the drivers are not signed.

The System Preference pane is not working but thanks to GadgetEnvy (bottom of page 1) on this link;

I opened the com.wacom.wacomtablet.prefs file in TextWrangler.
(The .prefs file is in the ~/Library/Preferences folder.)

I think you can edit the preference file manually
I am trying this now and will let you know how it goes (unless someone else manages to find out the details sooner)

At least it is working now!

1680x1050 on NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400!? Please help me! I've tried everything! - GeForce Forums
1. Main->Target Adapter->Customize->Low level refresh rate setting->Monitor Driver Wizard - check there if EDID recognised max available resolution as 1680x1050, if not overwrite it.

2. Main->Driver Settings->Custom Display modes/refresh rates wizard

Add there brand new 1680x1050 resolution.

Reboot PC, set new resolution.

In my case (for the Inspiron 2330's built-in monitor), I had to click "Create" on the monitor driver wizard tab, then choose that .inf file to even see the option for the custom resolution I created.

How to Use Apple Magic Trackpad with your Windows PC
WinRAR, strangely enough, does not extract the mentioned .msp file completely. It zeroes in on PCW_CAB_BootCamp, and *only* extracts that one file, leaving you to think you're getting burned by these instructions because you don't see any of the BootCamp3200* folders from the instructions. Really. Use 7-Zip like it says.

Kensington Mouseworks and Lion: Apple Support Communities
I have an older Kensington Expert Mouse. 4 buttons and a trackball with a circular ring for scrolling. I went to the Kensington site and downloaded "Trackball Works V. 1.1.0" and installed on my iMac running Lion. It seems to work perfectly, allowing me to set up every configuration.

W530 Owner's Thread
The "base system device" error is normally your card reader, the way to check is to select "hardware ids" under the device tab in driver properties. Punch the hardware id into: PCI Vendor and Device Lists and it will give you the info you need.

For the card reader it is normally:

Hardware ID:

Chip Description: Ricoh PCIe SD/MMC Host Controller

For the W530 2441-1Z4, it was actually "PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E822&SUBSYS_21F617AA&REV_08" (I think only the rev changed).

subetech » Lenovo w520 and Windows 8
2. You will have 2 devices that do not have drivers installed. The two show up as “Unknown Device” and “Base System Device”.

For the “Unknown Device”, download the following driver from Lenovo’s site. It’s for the Ricoh Card Reader.

For the “Base System Device”, download the following driver from Lenovo’s site. This is for Windows 7, but it works for 8 also. Power Management Driver

(Although on the W530, the 'Base System Device' ended up being the card reader).

Drivers and software - ThinkPad -
Individual driver pages are nigh impossible to link directly to anymore. This is an index of (what appears to be) all ThinkPad models' driver pages, which you can /then/ link to.
