How To Install Node.js on a CentOS 7 server | DigitalOcean |
To gain access to the EPEL repo, you must modify the repo-list of your installation. Fortunately, we can reconfigure access to this repository by installing a package available in our current repos called epel-release.
<code class="language-bash">
sudo yum install epel-release

npm command to uninstall unused packages in Node.js - Stack Overflow

Run npm prune to unbuild modules not listed in package.json.

From npm help prune:

This command removes "extraneous" packages. If a package name is provided, then only packages matching one of the supplied names are removed.

Extraneous packages are packages that are not listed on the parent package's dependencies list.

If the --production flag is specified, this command will remove the packages specified in your devDependencies.

nodejs setup on Dreamhost VPS
git clone
1) Make a download dir to store the node source and download it.

mkdir downloads
cd downloads
git clone
Find the latest version

2) List all of the tags in the repository, and check out the most recent.
git tag
git checkout v0.12

At node v0.12.8-pre, 'npm' v2.13.4 was already present in 'node_modules'; no need to install it separately.

node.js - npm can't find package.json - Stack Overflow
The error message I got was "npm WARN enoent ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/usr/bin/package.json'" using the SCL 'rh-nodejs4' package. Using the '-g' (global) option worked.
I'll be brief but deadly. :) install -d will not work for you. It's simple. Try

$ npm install -g express

ruby - Cannot install Aptana Studio 3.6 on Windows - Stack Overflow
The error message is "Error 4155. Failed to correctly acquire installer_nodejs_windows.msi". Probably the NSA is inserting a backdoor into the NodeJS installer, because the relevant bug report mentions it's only happening in the US.
I have some issue, the fix is:
Uninstall any nodejs version.
Install Aptana.

node.js - Install NPM into home directory with distribution nodejs package (Ubuntu) - Stack Overflow
Easier still: add prefix=$HOME/.local/lib/node_modules to your ~/.npmrc and then add that path + '/bin' to your PATH.

<code class="language-bash">
npm config set prefix $HOME/.local/lib/node_modules
echo "PATH=$HOME/.local/lib/node_modules/bin:$PATH" >> ~/.bashrc

How to Install Node.js as a Non-Root User
Better solution is:
Create the ~/.npmrc file:

vim ~/.npmrc

Set the contents of the ~/.npmrc file to the following:

root = /home/nodejs/.local/lib/node_modules
binroot = /home/nodejs/.local/bin
manroot = /home/nodejs/.local/share/man

apt - node: command not found - Ask Ubuntu
Like @minerz029 already said there is a conflict with the node package. But if you still need the node command (because a script uses only nodefor example), the correct way is to install the nodejs-legacy package:

apt-get install nodejs-legacy

and not create a symlink on your own (especially not in /usr/bin/). This will provide a node command for nodejs.

software - node.js
Those of you who still find it enjoyable to learn the details of, say, a programming language – being able to happily recite off if NaN equals or does not equal null – you just don’t yet understand how utterly fucked the whole thing is. If you think it would be cute to align all of the equals signs in your code, if you spend time configuring your window manager or editor, if put unicode check marks in your test runner, if you add unnecessary hierarchies in your code directories, if you are doing anything beyond just solving the problem – you don’t understand how fucked the whole thing is. No one gives a fuck about the glib object model.
