database - Update MySQL version from 5.1 to 5.5 in CentOS 6.2 - Stack Overflow | https://stackoverflow.com/
You can use a yum plugin made by the IUS community to switch mysql-libs with mysql55w-libs. (the following assuming you still use Webtatic)
<code class="language-bash">yum install mysql yum-plugin-replace
yum replace mysql --replace-with mysql55w</code>

That should allow you to replace mysql with mysql55w-libs, whilst maintaining the older libmysqlclient for any dependencies.

What worked for me

<code class="language-bash">
yum clean all # maybe didn't do anything, I dunno
yum distro-sync full # didn't work without the 'full'
yum update # no updates found after 'distro-sync'

rpm - yum error "Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: epel. Please verify its path and try again" updating ContextBroker - Stack Overflow
In my case, the only problem was that the 'http_proxy' variable was set in root's .bashrc; doing a 'sudo -s' before installing the packages worked fine.

Git 1.9 — Software Collections
Just remember to 'sudo -s' if root's .bashrc is where the 'http_proxy' variables are getting set, otherwise you get weird errors like:
$ sudo yum install git19
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, rhnplugin, security

Unable to use yum getting: 14: PYCURL ERROR 7 - "Failed to connect to 2a02:2498:1:3d:5054:ff:fed3:e9 - Page 2 - CentOS
In my case, it was because I was using 'sudo' to run 'yum update' instead of running it in a root shell, with HTTP_PROXY and friends set in the environment (presumably by .bashrc).
I had the exactly same problem. I was too much focus on disabling ipv6. But it turned out the message itself has nothing to do with ipv6. In my case, it was
missing proxy setting in the /etc/yum.conf. As soon as I added "proxy=http://<ipv4addr>:3128" to yum.conf, everything started working.

yum Download All Source Packages (SRPM) From RedHat / CentOS WebSite
You have to monkey with the '$releasever' in order to get it to work.

If you ONLY want the source package, and don't care about building an RPM from it, look here: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise
# yum install yum-utils

Once installed, create a repo for SRPM as follows:
# vi /etc/yum.repos.d/srpm.repo

Append the following code:

[rhel-src]
name=Red Hat Enterprise Linux $releasever - $basearch - Source
baseurl=ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/6Server/en/os/SRPMS/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release

yum Download All Source Packages (SRPM) From RedHat / CentOS WebSite
Already installed:
# yum install yum-utils

For this part, I had to change "$releasever" to "6Server". There didn't seem to be away to specify the variable like "${releasever}" like with the shell.
Once installed, create a repo for SRPM as follows:
# vi /etc/yum.repos.d/srpm.repo
Append the following code:

[rhel-src]
name=Red Hat Enterprise Linux $releasever - $basearch - Source
baseurl=ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/$releasever/en/os/SRPMS/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release
