All current rape cases to be 'urgently' reviewed over disclosure fears - BBC News
Last week, a rape charge against Oxford University student Oliver Mears was dropped on the eve of his trial, after a diary which supported his case was uncovered.

And in December, the trial of Liam Allan, who faced 12 counts of rape and sexual assault, was dropped when it emerged evidence on a computer disc - which police had looked through - showed messages from the alleged victim pestering him for "casual sex".

Earlier this week, the BBC revealed the number of prosecutions in England and Wales that collapsed because of a failure by police or prosecutors to disclose evidence had increased by 70% in the last two years.

Permissive and Copyleft Are Not Antonyms | Meshed Insights Ltd
In practice, I have found that these three terms — project-scoped reciprocal, file-scoped reciprocal, and nonreciprocal –- highlight what matters most to developers and avoid unintentionally confusing the issue. I recommend their use instead of “permissive” and “weak/strong copyleft” or “restrictive”.

Donald Sterling, Koreans: What the Clippers owner’s love of Korean-Americans reveals about racism in America.
Sterling did not take a passive approach to attracting Korean tenants. He changed the name of one of his buildings to “Korean World Towers,” adorned his buildings with Korean flags, and explicitly stated a preference for “Koreans” in his housing ads.

Angela Wrightson murder: How the media fought to report the case - BBC News
Strange: a judge forced publishers to disable the "sharing" links on articles about a particular case, so that "prejudicial comment" appearing on social media would not endanger the defendants' right to a fair trial.

Scott v Shepherd - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shepherd tossed a squib into a crowded market in the town of Milborne Port in Somerset, where it landed on the table of a gingerbread merchant named Yates. Willis, a bystander, grabbed the squib and threw it across the market to protect himself and the gingerbread. Unfortunately, the squib landed in the goods of another merchant named Ryal. Ryal immediately grabbed the squib and tossed it away, accidentally hitting Scott in the face just as the squib exploded. The explosion put out one of Scott's eyes.

Couple launch challenge to heterosexual bar on Civil Partnerships | UK Human Rights Blog
One way of looking at the problem is to consider that it is the continuation of civil partnerships at all which is the oddity. They have been abolished upon the introduction of same sex marriage in Norway, Denmark and Sweden and in New Hampshire, Vermont Connecticut, Rhode Island and Delaware in the US.

DNA Lounge: 28-Sep-2012 (Fri) Wherein I finally vent about our new ABC permit.
They tried to get this written into the law back in 2010 and got shot down, so instead they went in through the back door and are adding it as a liquor license condition for everybody. It's a complete subversion of the democratic process: when the people and their elected lawmakers unambiguously say "no" on a civil liberties issue, the unelected SFPD and ABC career bureaucrats think they can force a "yes" anyway. It's disgusting.

"While acknowledging there are unique problems with determining the reasonable needs of children of high-earning families, the court said trial judges should nevertheless avoid overindulgence -- citing the doctrine of In re Patterson, 920 P.2d 450 (Kan.
