DVD-Guides.com - How to copy a DVD-9 using DVD Shrink 3.2
How to copy a DVD-9 using DVD Shrink 3.2

The 3.2 version of DVD Shrink introduced many new features, enough to make the need for a new guide essential. In this guide we are going to see how to copy a DVD using DVD Shrink and the new features and settings.
For those that do not know what DVD Shrink is: it is probably the best DVD copy application out there today! It is freeware, it includes many advanced quality features and also a CSS ripper, which means you can copy protected discs. You can download it here. Install and start reading this guide!

Unfortunately DVD Shrink development has ceased for a couple of years now. Many new DVDs contain protections that it cannot unlock. In case you have trouble you should try ripping the DVD first with a decent program, like "DVDFab HD Decrypter" (freeware) or use the excellent "CloneDVD 2".

AfterDawn.com: Guides: Copy entire DVD-9 movie to a single DVD-R using DVD Shrink
Copy entire DVD-9 movie to a single DVD-R using DVD Shrink

With this guide, we will make a backup of a DVD-9 disc (DVD-9 means a DVD that is bigger than 4.36GB and therefore doesn't fit on a single DVD-/+R without removing something from the disc or re-encoding the disc. To find out whether your movie is a DVD-9 or DVD-5, please refer to our DVD layer information database.) to a single DVD-R (or DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD-RW) disc, maintaining all the extras and menus with the disc.

DVD Shrink v3.2.0.15 (freeware)
Great program, If you have a movie that simply won't shrink down far enough to fit on a 4.7GB disk, there is a way around. Shrink and make the .iso file ignoring the programs warning that it won't fit on the DVD. Mount the .iso image that DVD shrink just made on a virtual drive, such as Nero or Daemon tools virtual drive. Choose the virtual drive as the new DVD to shrink, and reshrink it. Of course you will need to place the output for this file somewhere else, or rename it so there' conflict.
