Neil Gaiman - Wikipedia
"For his seventh birthday, Gaiman received C. S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia series. He later recalled that "I admired his use of parenthetical statements to the reader, where he would just talk to you...I'd think, 'Oh, my gosh, that is so cool! I want to do that! When I become an author, I want to be able to do things in parentheses.' I liked the power of putting things in brackets.""

The Greatest Living American Abstract Painter Tourney-ish - Modern Art Notes
"I convened a seeding committee made up of three of America's most distinguished abstract artist seeders: I call it ORANGES' Ed Schad, The Stranger's Jen Graves and Hyperallergic's Hrag Vartanian. My instruction to them was: "Given that this is an entirely fictional non-fiction endeavor, use any criteria you like. Personally, I'll be seeding based on a career's worth of work, with attention given to the last 10-15 years." I asked each of them to seed America's 32 top living abstractionists (and added my own 1-32 list). I averaged our lists to arrive at our seeding."
