"And so I give you: this list of 15 of the top picks that the App Store currently has to offer. While I can't promise that it'll account for all tastes, I've tried to present the widest variety of genres with both the longtime classics (some that readers might recognize from my regular Touch Me I'm Slick recommendations) and newer titles that have gone overlooked, even on Offworld.

Neven Mrgan's Tumbl → Glyphboard 2.0
"Just in time for today’s release of iPhone OS 3.0 with its oh-so-handy pasteboard, I’ve updated a little project of mine, Glyphboard. It’s a sort of keyboard which lets you type glyphs not available on any of the standard iPhone keyboards. These glyphs include , ☂, ☺, ✔, and even ♫. You may find this handy for Twitter, text messaging, emails, and I’m sure I don’t know what else. A clarification: unfortunately Safari won’t let you just tap a key to copy it; you have to hold and tap. I wish you didn’t, but there. On the flip side, even though it’s a web app, once you’ve installed Glyphboard it will work even when you’re offline. How’s that!"

Old Map App
"Old Map App allows an iPhone user to explore the effects of time on geography and urban development.

The application displays layers of geo-referenced historical maps projected onto a modern coordinate system, so that the same location can be compared over time. Layers can be faded, adjusted, and explored freely. If the user is located with the region of the historical map, the user's position will be mapped on the old maps to the position of the compass indicator.

Several maps of New York City & Region are included from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. All are high-resolution scans from the Library of Congress."

Rolando Review for iPhone | Touch Arcade
"The reason we and many others got excited about Rolando back in July was that it was the first seemingly full featured game that was actually designed specifically for the iPhone. ... Rolando is a platform puzzle game set in Rolandoland. Rolandos are small round creatures who seem to worship you (aka “Finger”) and ask for your help to defeat the shadow creatures that have invaded their land. "Something like a month ago, a $5 app called CameraBag hit the iPhone app store. I read the description, took the risk and bought it. I turns out it’s no more complicated than a few pre-built filters that will take a typically crappy photo with the iPhone’s camera (or let you choose one from your library) and make it look as if it were taken from one of a variety of classic low-quality cameras. You’ve got your Lomo, Holga, 1970’s faded and yellowing print, high-contrast B&W, infrared, and a few more (though you’ll find the first two as “Lolo” and “Helga” in the menu, for trademarks reasons naturally)."

RJDJ - The iPhone will addict you to music again! - Digital Tools - Homebrew, Computer Art, Tools and Game Design.
"Finally exquisite news again, where people from Cologne (and Vienna I think) were really involved in. The RJDJ is an iPhone application, that will turn your life into an interactive musicvideo. It plays music, that will be modified by sensory input. In other words you have music, that reacts to sensory and environmental input. It makes use of different sensors, like the microphone, the acceleration sensor and the touchpad. RJDJ turns your mobile phone into a very complex mixture of music playing device, music instrument or reality shaping artifact. The creators say about it, that it is "like glasses for your ears". They are right. Not only for them the RJDJ is a "digital drug"."
