Derek Powazek - Swan Swan Hummingbird
"I don’t believe that songs have to be perfectly understood to be enjoyed. The lyrics wander, with layers of references no one could fully understand unless they’re Michael Stipe. But of all the song’s mysteries, the one I’ve thought about most is the first three words. What the hell does “Swan Swan Hummingbird” mean? Now, after 20 years of it rattling around in my head, I think I finally know."

Rapid eye movement (sleep) - Wikipedia
"The function of REM sleep is not well understood; several theories have been advanced...Memory-related theories...Stimulation in CNS development as a primary function" ... "REM sleep occurs in all mammals (excluding the Bottlenose Dolphin and the Echidna). It appears that the amount of REM sleep per night in a species is closely correlated with the developmental stage of newborns. The platypus for example, whose newborns are completely helpless and undeveloped, has more than seven hours of REM sleep per night.[citation needed] Newborn dolphins and their mothers sleep very little or not at all the first month.
