mmCalc
mmCalc is a 35mm lens equivalent and crop factor calculator. Simply input your lenses focal length, the size of your sensor, and what the maximum aperture of your lens is and we will give you what the lens would be in terms of 35mm. mmCalc also provides a crop factor calculator that allows you to input the dimensions of your sensor and find out what the exact crop factor is. If you're unable to calculate for your lens with the pre-defined values, we also provide a completely customizable calculator that allows you to input your own crop factor, aperture, focal length, and even sensor dimensions.

How to shoot with the ricoh GR by Jake Szymanski
The Ricoh GR and GR II are two of the most popular cameras for cyclists. It's a great choice because it fits perfectly into a cycling jersey pocket, is super durable, easy to use, and produces exceptional images for it's size.

I've been shooting with the Ricoh GR as my primary camera for around five years, since before the GR II came out. I get tons of DMs on Instagram and questions from friends about my recommendations and tips for shooting with this sturdy little camera.

40 questions and answers about the Fujifilm X100S (review) - Photography - 25 Days Off
Despite my best efforts at being a lazy blogger I have had countless requests to put together a review of the new camera, but since I’m a bit late to the party I decided to do it a little differently. There are plenty of detailed reviews about the camera’s specs and general performance already out, so this review is less of a conventional review and more of a FAQ session. But fear not! It is a big post, with a lot of pics. Here we go…

This Clever Instagram Camera Halloween Costume Actually Takes Pictures
Check out this geeky Instagram-inspired Halloween costume created by photographer Eric Micotto. What’s neat is that it actually “works” as a camera: it’s powered by a Nikon D800 snapping photos through the “lens”, and has an iPad on the back that acts as the camera’s giant LCD screen. Subjects who have their photo taken by the costume can run around to the back to take a peek at how it turned out.

How to Use Your Zoom Lens as a Compositional Aid
You can see this principle illustrated really nicely in the images above. While the model takes up much the same amount of space in each of the shots – the five different focal lengths product quite different compositions. None are particularly ‘bad’ photos – but each produces very different results.

The Daily Shoot is a simple daily routine to motivate and inspire you to practice your photography, and share your results! It’s not a contest and there are no prizes. How to create black and white photos with a DSLR camera
The point is that turning a color photograph into black and white is an art that takes practice. It’s not something as simple as clicking “make black and white” in a program. If that is what you are doing, then you are doing it wrong. Read on to find out how to do it right.

YouTube - Canal de Rangefindergeneral
In 1983 the BBC aired a series called “Master Photographers” in which they interviewed some of the biggest names in photography at the time, including Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. The series can’t be found anywhere on DVD, but luckily many of the episodes have been uploaded to YouTube. If you’re at all interested in learning how historical greats worked and thought, this is a video series you have to bookmark and chew through.

The Timeless Beauty of National Geographic - Retinart
Who isn’t familiar with that wonderful yellow frame? It holds breathtaking images of exotic destination and mountains of nostalgia! It’s the flag of the editorial institution that National Geographic has established over the span of 120 years. The eponymous yellow rectangle has seen virtually no change, much like the interior pages, since it first bordered the front covers of the 1888 launch issue. I thought it could teach us a few things about timelessness in graphic design, so I randomly picked four issues to look at; March 1964, November 1988, April 2000 and a recent December 2009.

These photographs were taken during the 2006 World Cup, when I divided my time between London and Paris, going from pubs to bars, trying to catch the essence of each football match through people’s expressions. The One Who Got Away – Pictory
Think about the people missing from your life, and how you feel about them. What we remember — and what we forget — may reveal more about ourselves than about them. We have photos, letters, souvenirs, and fragments of memory, but our powerful imagination takes over from there: We color in the blanks. And that’s OK. Retouching old loves is a way of understanding what we want. It helps us find our way to new ones. It’s impossible to know whether the experiences below are about infatuation, true love, lust, or something else entirely. But we can be sure that each of these contributors learned about life and themselves in the process.
