State of the Birds - 2011 Report — Public Lands and Waters
"This year’s report provides the nation’s first assessment of the distribution of birds on public lands and helps public agencies identify which species have significant potential for conservation in each habitat. The state of our birds is a measurable indicator of how well we are doing as stewards of our environment. The signal is clear. Greater conservation efforts on public lands and waters are needed to realize the vision of a nation sustained economically and spiritually by abundant natural resources and spectacular wildlife."

Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation - Home
Adventure athletes constantly travel to areas of great need.  These ambassadors of the outdoors often want to do more for the areas they travel in but simply have not acquired the skills to do so.
The time is now to harness the unique abilities of people who are already going to difficult to reach areas.  ASC provides the world with the opportunity to learn about these areas on an unprecedented scale.
While countless other organizations have worked to gather scientific data, none have specifically utilized the unique skills of climbers, mountaineers, divers, paddlers, and others to get this data.  There are thousands of people in remote areas everyday.  They are ready, willing, and able to help protect our planets most vital resources, they simply need the tools to do so.

Museum 2.0: Deliberately Unsustainable Business Models
Argues that museums need to "support the community with reliable, consistent services and supreme awesomeness." The last of which is left as an incredible gaping hole. Is it really so bad for museums to plod along? Isn't that a feature rather than a bug for an institution that has CONSERVATION as one of its major goals to plod along through economic thick and thin?
